Publisher's Summary

How do you defy destiny?

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire 16 years trying to hide how different she is - no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood... and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together - and trying to tear them apart.

Where are the Sequels?

Any additional comments?

I have gotten so sick of getting into series and having to wait a year or two for the sequels to come out. In the last 3 months i have started 6 series and will have to wait until 2014 and even 2015 to finish. ENOUGH, I said!! So I went hunting, determined to find a good series that had all the books already published. I found this trilogy on Good Reads and was excited to see all the books were out already and that they were on Audible! My mistake was not making sure ALL THREE books were on Audible. Uggggh!! I desperately want to finish this series! I will have to add it to my to-do list now, along with ALL the others. Like another review said I am surprised there aren't more reviews on this book. I would also agree with the review that I was also put off by the synopsis and didn't want to read this book initially. So much so, that for the first few chapters I thought it was going to be terrible. But to my surprise the book did a backflip and I fell in love with the twists and turns, and especially, the character development. I also like how there is a "love story" type situation in the book, but it doesn't dominate the story with puppy love or stupid triangles. There is actually a plot that isn't ENTIRELY about romance. The Greek mythology entwined in the book is intriguing and I highly recommend this book! Now if only Audible would get the other two books recorded already!

First novel of a trilogy?

I really enjoyed this read. The book was engaging, interesting, extremely well narrated, but it left me wondering where the second and third volumes were languishing. The second in the series is Dreamless. It was published and out in May of 2012. I'm really anxious to read the sequels because this writer doesn't short change the reader with a couple of dozen dime novels to tell a story when she can tell a full and compete story in a trilogy. I love the characters she painted with her words and I'm so surprised that I'm the first to write a review on this volume because it should have scads of them long since.

I wonder if those who read it failed to post a review until they had continued the story in the sequels. If so, that's a pity because anyone who read the reviews would be downloading this book right now. As it is, I may have to go to Barnes&RobYou to download it to my Nook when I'd really enjoy it while on a long drive or even while cleaning house. I get so interested and into it that I fail to notice that I'm working or even working out, God forbid. Oh well... At least read Starcrossed because you will like it. I had had it in my library but was a tiny bit put off by the synopsis. That may need to be revisited in case anyone else had the same reaction. I thought, wow.... why didn't I read this sooner?

Do yourself a favor and don't put it off. It's worth it.

Oh, I nearly forgot. In my research, I put the authors name in my search engine and she has a website. So, I trucked on over there even though I should be in bed, and wouldn't you know? The third book in the trilogy is titled "Goddess." It can be pre-ordered in print but I think it can be downloaded now to my Nook. PLEASE, Audible... get these two recorded into audible books so we can buy them?

I liked this so much more than I thought I would!

I was expecting this to be okay. Typical YA love story blah blah blah. But I ended up really invested in Helen and Lucas and all of the cousins.

I adored the mythology elements to it.

I loved that there wasn't an 'insta-love' (there was an insta-loathe but it somehow made more sense.

Although there are some 'schooly' elements to the book, they aren't the main focus. And the school isn't the main atmosphere.

I am very curious that the others aren't on Audible- I went to purchase the next one and it isn't there..... BOO

All of it!

Which scene was your favorite?

Um, I don't want to give anything away but when they save each others lives.

Kind of a roller coaster ride!!!

Where does Starcrossed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I haven't heard that many audiobooks yet, but I thought this one overall pretty good.

What did you like best about this story?

The best thing about this story is definetly the ROMANCE!!! I really could feel their sexual tension. Some great stuff!!!!

Have you listened to any of Devon Sorvari’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never heard anything from her before.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought some parts were funny n the couple were very romantic. But no crying. LOL

Any additional comments?

I thought this book was very similar to Fallen by Lauren Kate. So if u like romance with some story line this is the book for u.

meh

This book is a mashup of Twilight and the Shadowhunters books, but with demigods instead of vampires or nephlim.

Well done!

The narration was well done for the most part. I could tell when something was re-recorded or added in or whatever that was. I am a big fan of Josephine Angelini’s and have read this book several times. Despite the odd changes in the sound quality here and there, the audio was enjoyable.

Needs new narration

I really enjoyed the overall story that was written. A retelling of one of my favorite battles in history; the battle of Troy! Hell YEAH! However, the performance aspect of this audiobook was a real downer. For me the narrator did a really poor job of having different tones of voices for the characters. Her voice was monotone for the entire story. I kept having to stop at certain parts because the voice of the narrator almost put me to sleep, multiple times. Basically, it was very hard to make it through this book without falling asleep.
The other issue I had with the book was the main character, Helen. I know that she was based on Helen of Troy, but I didn't like the way the author wrote her character. Yes, she was more badass than the original Helen of Troy but she still seemed weak and to me let people pull her around and make decisions for her way to often. She just kind of went along with certain situations and didn't really have an opinion on it. I wanted her to be stronger version of Helen and I found myself liking the other characters more than her.
Overall though, the book is a great read. I would defiently recommend for anyone that is really into Greek mythology.

Well Done

I bought this in order to distract myself from a very Long road trip. The story is great, the narration is very good, and I enjoyed it the entire way:)
