2019 Splatterpunk Award Winner for Best Horror Novella
On the night before Halloween, a Satanic mass is held deep in the woods outside a small American town. Followers of the dark faith are assigned a mission in a message delivered by the devil himself. On Halloween, they must deliver a bounty of pure souls to their dark master. By killing virgins.
As Halloween begins, so does the all-day horror movie marathon hosted by Count Victor von Gravemore on Channel 39. Many will be watching as real horror invades their lives and screams ring out all over town.

I felt like this was a plot driven story versus a character driven story and found it lacking in both. Not a bad thing, for such a short story that worked out just fine and I was able to sit back and just enjoy the carnage. As for carnage, there is a lot. Didn’t find it overly graphic but there is a lot of detailed gore as well as your required satanic orgies. It really reminded me of the old late night movies you would watch hosted by a B grade actor. They even pay tribute to this fact throughout the story. Something that I really enjoyed hearing about, especially as Halloween is right around the corner and I have been in nonstop Halloween mode.
I wasn’t especially connected to any of the characters except for Seth. He was the only one that I actually was cheering for hoping that he would come out of everything safe. The rest of the characters, save a few, weren’t around long enough to really peak my interest. I did enjoy Cindy Midnight in that she was a great antagonist for the story and was as sexy and evil as you would want from a satanic cult killer.
Sean Duregger did a great job with the narration. I loved his character's voices, the cadence he used, and the overall energy he put into the narration. I think he brought the tension to the story where it was needed and made this a delight to listen to.

Narration was well done. Pleasant to listen to and emotions were on point.
Story was very gory and a lot of sex. I found the plot was not very strong with this one though and mostly centered around the gore and sex. There was some mildly suspenseful elements. It was entertaining.
Gory
