Publisher's summary

For Allison Cook, the weekend trip to a horror convention in Virginia is a fun break from work and humdrum reality. Then she meets a guy who shows her a movie that shouldn’t exist, one that upends everything she thinks she knows about reality itself. The movie on the old VHS tape is an unseen and unknown installment of a legendary slasher franchise she’s loved since the dark days of her unhappy adolescence. As soon as she sees it, she knows the movie is the real deal, not a fake or a fan film. She can only come to one impossible conclusion - the movie is from some other alternate reality. It is not of this world.

And she knows one other thing.

She must have it. At all costs. And by any means necessary. But unknown to Allison, possession of the tape comes at a higher price than she ever could have imagined.

Top Notch Narrator

I read the actual book several months ago and loved it. The basic concept is one I've thought about many times...alternate universe installments of my favorite horror movies. Bryan Smith is easily my second favorite writer behind Steven King.

Don't give up keep going

I love the writing of Bryan Smith. I almost gave up on this one because it was losing my interest at first. but I kept going and it didn't disappoint in the end. it's a great story. everything I have come to expect from Mr Smith. it starts out a bit slower than usual but don't give up on it. keep going and you will really be impressed.

Torn

So, I'm torn on my opinion with this one. I did like it, don't get me wrong, but I think I was expecting something different. Being a horror movie nerd who's favorite franchise is Friday The 13th, I was thrilled by the premise and fascinated in the beginning with the brief description of the sequel that didn't belong. That said, that portion of the story was much smaller than I realized. The majority of the story revolves around the physical VHS tape and its current possessor. While that aspect is still pretty good, I finished the book wanting more details about the movie within. I won't fault the book for this though, because that's more just my inner fanboy wishing it was a real movie.
