Publisher's summary

Discover the remarkable life of Brian Boru....

Ireland is a country steeped in history, myth, and legend. During ancient times a long line of kings reined over this fairytale land, and one of those kings was a man named Brian Boru. Ruling the Emerald Isle from 1002 to 1014, Brian’s tenure is indeed so immersed in mythology that it is sometimes hard to glean the fact from the fiction. But Brian Boru himself was not the product of a fanciful tale - he did indeed exist in the flesh. His body is buried at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh where countless admirers of his life still come to visit.

In 2014, as a testament to his enduring character, at the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf and Brian Boru’s ultimate demise, thousands made their way to the site of the former fray to pay homage. This book seeks to flesh out every detail of his character and his experiences as they transpired.

Why to the Irish diminish Brian’s win at Clontarf?

As an American, who finds Brian’s story, from orphan to the only true Ard Ri; High King over a united, and free, Ireland, in peace for 12 years. . . A heart and gut wrenching, true story and Hero. What amazes me, is, every book, scholar, documentary, video denigrates Brian, and diminishes his achievement, defeating those who would take over Ireland completely, resuming the rapine, slaughter, enslavement, tyranny. Defeating a huge army of Viking mercenaries, recruited from all North Eastern Europe. Including this book, and preceding comment?

American Revolution. Who was the winner? George Washington and the Americans, right? Americans and English on both sides. The tyranny, taxing, and subjugation of the British was stopped. No American has ever argued Washington didn’t win, and stop the British tyranny! .

Who won the American Civil War? Abraham Lincoln and the North.
Ending the attack from the South, Slavery, destruction of the Union, hard won in the Revolution. Northerners and Southerners, brother against brother in the War. No American has ever claimed Lincoln didn’t win the war!!

Some one please explain to me, who has studied Brian’s life, and constantly reads, listens to, this universal attitude against Brian and his achievements and sacrifice, his three sons and grandson, and life long struggles to achieve peace. . .

Why??????
When you could be acknowledging the hard won, incredible achievement, of one man made for his people and homeland. An impossible dream of a united Ireland in peace, made come true. And no one has managed since? Paying the ultimate sacrifice with his own life, and loved ones.

A True Hero!!!!!
Please explain this universal distain?

too short

Too short. Based on information that is considered less accurate today. For instance there were Irish and Vikings on both sides of the Battle of Clontarf. wish it was longer
