Think about our ancient cultures

I haven’t read much of Roman history and I learned how Rome got its name, how it was built and how it grew from this book; but what truly did interest me is the story about Rome’s political development.

Straight and to the point

A decent balance of events and people and written to engage. I would like to see more snippets of illustrative describing everyday life at some points, it would make the book a bit more personal, but I would buy more books from this author either way.

It is a straight-forward guide book

The development of the ancient civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and Rome is intertwined. I like how certain parts of our society, economy, and culture developed in all of these civilizations. We very much owe a lot of knowledge and technology to them.
