Great

The Liar’s Companion is an excellent collection of Lawrence Block’s Writer’s Digest columns that will surely prove enjoyable to both those who write and those who only want to read/listen. For writers, Block’s insight is solid and encouraging, filled with the experiential knowledge that only comes with decades of work from a person who admits that writing these columns has helped his own fiction. Along the way, he uses his career (relating often to his then-upcoming novel Random Walk, which is an excellent read and is well worth your time) as not only example for listeners to sink their teeth into, but lets it double, anecdotally, as memoir, providing a wholly interesting listen for those who don’t see the appeal of writing. Michael Bonner provides excellent narration and is A+ as Block’s proxy.
