Publisher's summary

She needs his protection to escort her to the Highlands. But where she wants him to take her is to his enemy's territory. It's a dangerous game she plays. How much are they both willing to risk for love?

The Sassenach

Lady Rhoswen Asquith accompanies her father and siblings on a journey to the Highlands, setting out on a very important and dangerous mission. The plan is to save her baby nephew from her late sister's murderous husband Ranulph Drummond.

Unfortunately, her English escorts have just been attacked and killed by bandits, and her father is left for dead. With the only item they had to barter for her nephew's return now stolen, she and her siblings are left without escorts and stranded on the wrong side of the border.

The Highlander

Logan MacKeefe travels with his pet wolf at his side and his sword in his hand. But today, he's been thrown out of the Horn and Hoof Tavern in Glasgow because his wolf has stolen a chicken right out of old Callum MacKeefe's soup pot.

Wanting a few minutes of peace and quiet, he bathes in the bay and suns himself on a rock to dry. It isn't long before he is disturbed by a bonnie lassie atop a horse who comes crashing through the thicket, heading right toward the water.

She's a Sassenach, who begs him to help her dying father. Never able to turn away a lassie in distress, Logan agrees, becoming the protector of Rhoswen and her younger siblings. But when her father dies, Logan finds himself in the middle of a harrowing situation, since where she wants him to take her is to his enemy's den.

Will honor and love win over revenge and guilt, as two people who should never be together find comfort and solace in each other's arms?

Loved it!

I love Elizabeth’s stories of the MacKeefe’s and their pets. They not only have love and adventure in them, but they have humor.
This one is about Lady Rhoswen, an English lady and Logan MacKeefe with his pet wolf Jack.
Brian J. Gill has a wonderful accent with his narration. It sure takes you right into the Highlands and you will think you are in Scotland.

Exciting Story

Highland Steel is another action-packed adventure about the lives and loves of the MacKeefe Clan. This story features Logan MacKeefe and Rhoswen Asquith, an English noblewoman. Rhoswen thought the family was traveling to the Drummond Clan to exchange a valuable sword, which was taken when they were attacked by bandits, for her nephew. It turns out her father had more in mind. When Rhoswen’s father dies, Logan, along with his cousins and their pets, brings her and her siblings to the Mackeefe Camp. From there, Logan and Rhoswen embark on a mission to find the sword and rescue her nephew. Do they succeed?

This exciting story is full of drama, danger, secrets, and surprises. There is also some humor and passion. The strong and protective Logan and the feisty and independent Rhoswen are a great match. It was nice to have characters from previous stories; to visit with this large devoted family. I enjoyed Highland Steel. Brian J. Gill does his usual awesome narration of this excellent addition to the Highland Chronicles and to the Mackeefe saga.

An entertaining story, with plenty of action.

This was a good paced, entertaining story. This features Logan MacKeefe, a highlander who was strong and brave. He was skilled at whittling but he did have something he wasn’t proud of. Rhoswen, was English and had a mission to fulfill for her family. She was brave and was able to use her sword. Rhoswen was also responsible for her younger siblings. Unfortunately her mission involved an enemy of the MacKeefes. They were very attracted to each other but there are some dangerous circumstances that need to be overcome. I enjoyed the feeling of friendship and banter between Logan and his friends. The narrator read the story very well and used different accents and tones for the various people, to bring life to the story.
