Publisher's summary

Private investigator Ava Worthington and her partners head to the mountains to solve the death of a farmer’s son. Without local cowboy Cory Mortel's protection, Ava won’t get the chance to follow leads as the killer tries to stop her investigation. But Cory seems reluctant to get involved.

Cory Mortel has retreated to the seclusion of the mountains after a personal disaster. The last thing he needs is to babysit a beautiful amateur detective and her friends. But Ava seems to attract danger, so Cory has choice but to step in and protect her.

One suspect after another is cleared from Ava’s list until she’s sure she has the real killer targeted in her sights, but he’s hunting her, too - a dangerous fact when she's distracted by her growing feelings for the handsome cowboy who's there every time she needs him.

How will Ava and Cory find the killer and admit their love before they are buried under a mountain of secrets?

Romantic suspense

Fateful Fall by Erin Unger

Ava and her two friends have come to town to investigate a murder. The sparks and suspense starts there.

Ava and her team heavily rely on Cody to help them with the investigation. It seems that the police force is of no help.

This book is good. The suspense portion is great with a few twists and turns. The romance is possibly a bit overdone and a bit cheesy, but all in all I really enjoyed the book. It has a great redemption factor and shows God working in the lives of the main characters.

I thought that the narration was amazing, and loved the two voices.

I received this audiobook free with no requirement of review. I am reviewing this book of my own accord and am giving my honest opinion.

CLEAN romance

While this is not what I would expect from a romantic suspense novel, it is a good book with an intriguing mystery. It is a CLEAN, mildly romantic book. The actual perpetrator will surprise you.

Good Story & Narration

Ava sets up her own private investigation agency with friends. Their first is what killed the farmers son, The Blue Ridge mountain is a great setting. Her friends are good. Even Cory a guy with many talents to help them. Good and enjoyed the cast of characters.
Given audio which also added to the story and good narration for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

She came to find a killer, will she also find love

Fateful Fall is the second book I've 'read' from Erin Unger and like the first one it took me awhile to get into the story but then the last half a total 'WOW!' While I did guess the killer's identity fairly early on I was gobsmacked when I heard the how and the why. I say 'heard' because I listened to the audiobook version of the story. The first half of the book kind of reminded me more of a romance as both Cory and Ava skirt around their attraction to each other despite the fact that he has secrets and she won't be there for long. The suspense really took off in the second half and there were some pretty surprising twists and turns. Now I'm interested in finding the next book in the Worthington Detective Agency series.

The audio production of Fateful Fall delivered one of the most surprising, and unique in my audiobook listening experience, things right off the bat. The book has a double narrator. Yes, you read that right, there are TWO narrators! I loved it! The chapters from Ava's perspective are narrated by a woman and the ones from Cory's POV are narrated by a man. This really brought Erin Unger's novel to life in a totally new way.

On the whole, Fateful Fall was an enjoyable listen and I wouldn't hesitate to listen to any of Erin Unger's other books in audio format. If you are looking for a romantic suspense with a strong faith element you should check this one out.

Murder on The Ranch

When Ava Worthington and her friends/partners are hired to investigate the murder of a rancher's son, she discovers a lot more than she expected to. The small town folk aren't particularly helpful or welcoming, with one exception - handsome ranch hand Cory Mortel. As they work to collect clues to solve the murder, their own lives seem to be at stake as well and it becomes a race to solve the case before they become a part of it.
This is an interesting "clean" romantic mystery. Ava, the heroine suffers from a serious lack of confidence, but she's actually much stronger than she thinks. Cory has sworn off women after some legal difficulties of a "me too" variety back East. Together they make a good team, and you can't help but pull for them to get over their hesitancy and get together.
There's a bit more "faith" in this one than I'm used to reading but not enough to be preachy and it doesn't determine the outcomes .
Overall, I liked it.

A really great adventure story!

This was a really great story but I didn't care for Nicole, the female narrator's voice. She is one of those peppy people that are always happy. Don't get me wrong we should all be happy but when it gives you that high pitched voice it is too much when you are in the midst of a murder investigation. I have read other books by Ms. Unger and I enjoyed them as much as I did this one. I think I would have liked it more if I had read it myself.
