Publisher's summary

What happens when an almost 30-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction?

Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat.

Midfielder Maclay "Mac" Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorable, freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.

Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London's finest. She's plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.

However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.

What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.

Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don't fall in love with your best friend.

Blindsided is a full length (97,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with a sports theme.

Mac-n-Cookie!

This book deserves a million stars. I loved it from the beginning to the end. This was my first Scottish/Cornish (And Amy Daws) Romance novel and if they are all like this – I’m hooked. This book was the friends-to-lovers story done right.
It starts off with two completely platonic friends that literally Netflix and Chill. Mac is a tattooed, alpha-male, football player and Cookie (Mac’s nickname for Freya) is a seamstress with insecurity about her weight/size. Freya decides to confide in her best friend about how awkward she is around guys and can’t date because of it – he becomes her love coach to help her out.
Here is what I LOVE LOVE LOVE about this book.
1. Not only are both characters loveable alone, they are loveable together
2. Their friendship is solid. It isn’t like one of those friendships where the female character secretly pines away for her cute guy friend. Nope. It all happens unexpectedly and organically
a. He pretends to be her brother in order to set her up on a date with a guy she has a crush on. Yes! She has a crush outside of the main character. I loved that it didn’t center around their love for each other only. Instead it shows how they really are best friends and then later in the book, more happens
3. Its paced properly. Not too much too soon. Then when it happens, it doesn’t end right after that. It takes us through to an epilogue! Yaay!
4. They have really supportive friends with positive messages as opposed to the friend telling them to settle or move on.
5. The scenarios feel real to me. If they have a disagreement, they don’t just run back into each other’s arms like any other romance novel – it’s a real time off involved.
6. The narrators were AMAZING! Which was perfect with the author’s writing style. I felt like I was watching a movie instead of listening to audible
I really could go on about their bickering, the adopt-a-pet date, and much more – but I want you to actually read this review and get the book! I’ve already recommended it to a few people and plan to read it again one day. I can’t wait to hear about Mac’s sister. I feel like that is coming next.

✫✫ 5 Stars ✫✫ LOVED IT!!!!

Man I devoured this book! I loved the characters and their relationship. It was so great to read about a female lead who had flaws. Freya had a lot of self esteem issues and to be honest, they are the same thoughts that I think many of us have everyday. I loved how she came out of her shell and with the help of her friends and her man she learned to love herself. First I fell in love with Mac, then with their friendship, then I fell in love with Freya and finally I fell head over heels in love with their relationship. The banter between them was off the charts. I laughed so much during this book. Without giving any spoilers, I just have to say this book had the BEST scene ever in it that was seriously funny but extremely thought provoking. I am not surprised about how much I loved this book though because I expect nothing less from this Author.

The narration, as always with all Amy's books was PERFECT. I loved all the accents and I love when a voice fits a characters personality and Will Watt and Charlotte Cole fit like a glove.

so let's say I feel like amy daws was channelling me. I am not a tall super model of a woman. I am a short 5'3 and a size 14 with a tummy that isn't flat. I really appreciate the fact that she describes a real women with lots to love. so I just want to say thank you Amy

Best Narrators EVER!!!!

WOW... WOW... WOW... Will Watt and Charlotte Cole were just simply amazing. Best dual narration I have ever heard. I have always wanted Freya to have her own book and Amy Daws blew my mind. I have to say I laughed so hard and I have to admit I cried buckets too. Mac was just simply delicious and I loved him, but I wanted to smack some sense into him as well. This book shows two friends who can't see what is right in front of them. Plus more Harris Clan too, who can say no to hot footballers!!!
Highly recommend this book and I loved this narration so much!!!

Fantastic listen

I absolutely loved both the story and the narration. I could listen to those Scottish accents all day every day.
Amy Daws is a brilliant writer, and there's not even one that I haven't enjoyed. This one has become one of my favorites for sure.

cringeworthy

I tried so hard but couldn't get it done. I think I was expecting more chemistry between them.

Lead female unlikable -

DNF - The main female character was so unlikeable I couldn't get past chapter 6. She was just downright mean to her "friend" constantly. Why he would want to even be in her company is unfathomable.

Another Great Book from Amy Daws!

Friends to more is my favorite trope and with Blindsided, Amy Daws has created an interesting story with engaging characters that come alive through the duet narration. I am picky about audiobooks and narrators, but I always love Amy's books on audio.

From the beginning it is easy to see the strong bond between Mac and Freya and that remaining platonic best friends is not in their future. After having met them in a previous book I really liked getting to know them better. They were fun and funny, and definitely not one dimensional. I appreciated that they had careers and interests outside of just being with each other.

The evolution of their relationship was sweet and hit all the right notes. The author infused the story with enough humor and heart to make it an enjoyable and entertaining read!

Mac and Freya's story is a spin-off from the Harris Brothers series, but can be read as a standalone.
