Publisher's summary

Book one is the first in this series about real life and real people, and one young man’s first steps on a journey to self-discovery. No sugar-coating here. It is a raw and unfiltered look at growing up and leaving home for the first time. From a traumatic beginning, this roller coaster of emotional and visual images will tug at your heartstrings and then just as quickly make you burst out laughing.

The underlying message is one of humor, hope, and triumph of the human spirit. This is the ultimate underdog story in which the listeners may very well see themselves or their own circumstances come to life. This one man’s journey will prove that nothing is impossible because, “The hard you do now; the impossible just takes a little longer.” And in the end, you will know his story to be the ride of your life!

A modern American cult classic!

Read a coming of age story like no other.
Follow the vein of the mother lode leading Karl home, to himself and finding peace in the memory, mystery and love of a parent taken too soon.
Cheer for Karl as the hungry boy with the skinny legs living the life of a modern American cult classic as raw and vivid adventures charge forward equally shocking the reader with a most unexpected sensitivity.
Great work by both Karl Wiggins & narrator Buzz Blackburn- can’t wait for the next in the series‼️

Great start with volume 1

Talking Dog And The Mother Lode by Karl D Wiggins is a great book. I've read the book and listened to the audio and with both they leave you anxiously waiting for the next volume. Karl talks about his life and throughout you'll see the rough times he's been through .You can't help but to get the feeling of being there with him, sharing tears and laughter. It's the type of book you find hard to stop reading or listening to until it's finished. Well done.
Also the narrator,Buzz Blackburn does a wonderful job. He has the kind of voice that you can listen to all day.He puts much expression into it that makes you feel the action in the book.

A Must Read Classic Piece of Americana!

Karl Wiggins delivers Kerouac-style in a real life journey with hard-won lessons though vivid and often riveting descriptions of growing up and coming of age in California, Kansas, Oregon, and Texas during the colorful and turbulent times of the late sixties and early seventies. Expertly narrated by gifted on-air radio personality and talented musician Buzz Blackburn, the listener feels every moment in it's fullness and raw honest grit, resonating as a familiar first person introspect into life itself, through the modern recollection of a rugged cowboy trucker. Pure Americana, it's like Stand By Me and The Outsiders meet Cadillac Jack and Rumblefish all rolled up in Nice Dreams, only Wiggins is the real deal.
