Vampire Hunting 101

Once upon an ominous eve, I ventured into the realm of audio, seeking the ethereal whispers that would breathe life into a tale known as "The Turning," a volume ensconced within the Forsaken Series, conjured forth by the hand of Phil Price. Narrated by none other than the mellifluous tones of Hannibal Hills, the auditory journey promised a descent into darkness, and I, with my heart aflutter, embarked upon this auditory voyage.

The story unfurls its tendrils of intrigue around a soul named Jake, a man who had once glimpsed the abyss of horror and had managed to flee its clutching grasp, seeking solace within a newfound family. Ah, but the threads of peace are always woven frailly, for Fate herself doth revel in the malevolent mirth of upheaval. Thus, the tranquil tapestry of Jake's existence is sundered, as the abyss surges forth anew, gorging itself on his dear ones and spiriting them away to a world draped in unspeakable horrors.

With a spine made of steel or, perhaps, wrought from the very veins of fear itself, Jake is compelled to traverse the interstitial veils of existence, chasing after those he cherishes. Through portals untrod by the mortal foot, he stalks the precipice between worlds, seeking to combat the fiends that leer in shadows and the vampiric specters that thirst for his loved ones' essence.

A symphony of despair and hope, the audiobook delves deeper into the labyrinthine woods of malevolence. As the shadows lengthen and the chills crawl, Jake's saga beckons the listener into a dance with dimensions uncharted, as he and his family confront the yawning maw of evil in its myriad forms. In the tradition of the first installment, a tapestry within a tapestry is woven—a tapestry embroidered with an array of characters, each a tale waiting to unfold, a candle illuminating the obscure corners of the tale.

Oh, but take heed, for within this dark symphony lies complexity's web. As a raven's wing might obscure the moon, the myriad threads and tales within tales might, at times, beguile the senses and perplex the mind. Yet, as the skilled conjurer deftly weaves the narrative through Jake, his beloved Kathrine, their daughter Alesha, the venerable Father Eddie, and stalwart Doug, a tapestry rich with emotions, yearnings, and trepidations manifests.

Hannibal Hills, the melodious bard of this auditory odyssey, breathes life into each syllable, casting an enchantment upon the listener with his voice like dark honey. It is a voice that lures one to the heart of the tale's harrowing depths and imparts a visceral connection to the unfolding tragedy. His cadence, his inflection, and his artistry transform mere words into a macabre serenade, one that shivers upon the spine and kindles a flicker of dread and anticipation.

In conclusion, "The Turning," within the tapestry of the Forsaken Series, is a symphony of shadows, a nocturne that Edgar himself might have found pleasure in composing. With each twist and turn, with every sigh of wind that courses through the tale's haunted woods, the listener is ensnared, drawn inexorably into the maelstrom of fear and fortitude. Price's narrative, rendered tangible by Hills' velvety intonations, is a mesmerizing descent into the depths of the human soul, cast against the backdrop of a world teetering upon the precipice of the supernatural. Thus, dear reader, do I commend this auditory endeavor to your eager ears, that you too might be beguiled and bewitched by the exquisite disquietude of "The Turning."

Jake Travels Again

Recommend reading book 1 The Unknown to get the full effect of the characters have to say I enjoyed this book more as it follows Jake and family thru different portals in the forest trying to destroy evil vampires and creatures. As in 1st book there are many character and stories within stories (which could be confusing at times). The primary characters are Jake, Kathrine, daughter Alesha, Father Eddie and Doug. Recommend to anyone who enjoy supernatural with vampires and travel thru portals good against evil. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you!

Worth Checking out

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought this was a great follow up to the first book. It was a little slow at first, but it definitely picks up and more than makes up for it in the end. The narration is great. Hanibal Hills really brings the story to life. This is still a rather complex story with many threads, but it is put together well and definitely worth checking out.

Excellent

i got this book thinking it was something totally different. That being said I am really glad I made that mistake! Even though i hadn't heard the first book it wasn't difficult to become fully immersed into the story. Took a couple of chapters and I was hooked. Thinking i am going to go ahead and get the first book as well. Very well written story with lots of action, if that's what your intro. The narrator was amazing and was able to give the characters life. There were times i was cheering for the characters or willing them to succeed.
Great book for your collection. You will not be sad you purchased this one.

Great Story!

This isn't your ordinary vampire tale. The writing and narration combine flawlessly to totally immerse the listener into the lands that the characters traverse. I wasn't fortunate enough to be able to review book 1, but that didn't seem to detract from the ability to thoroughly enjoy book 2.
