The Shadow Crusade has begun. While the Ultramarines reel from Kor Phaeron's surprise attack on Calth, Lorgar and the rest of the Word Bearers strike deep into the realm of Ultramar.

Their unlikely allies, Angron and the World Eaters, continue to ravage each new system they come across - upon the garrison planet of Armatura, this relentless savagery may finally prove to be their undoing. Worlds will burn, Legions will clash and a primarch will fall.

Cannot recommend this Horus Heresy novel enough, ADB is fantastic in his writings as always and the amped up level of comedy alone makes this a great novel in its own right not just one of the best in the series. Jonathan Keeble also really sells the characters to a point of near realism. Like First Heretic Lorgar is a greatly interesting character usually keeping his machinations close to the chest, his obsession with truth(however ugly) leaves him a semi relatable demigod in good contrast to Angrons depravity from The Butchers Nails. Angron is simply amazing, wont even describe because everything about him is central to the plot and Lorgars plans of both brotherly love and supreme conquest. This is an absolute must for those plowing through the series and easily rivals ADBs near perfectly executed Night Lords trilogy.

This is probably the best in the Horus Heresy so far, A beautifully written story where every part is tied together. This book shows the rebellion side when it really fell to chaos.

The Betrayer - best of the Horus Heresy so far

Listen to this if you want the absolute best book of the entire 55+ book series of the Horus Heresy.

Honestly out of everyone I know who reads the heresy all agree this is the best book out of all of them. Master of Mankind would be the only other one to come close.

Best things about this book:
-The original buddy cop duo, Kharn and Argel Tal, notably their dialogue to each other
-Lotarra "Gives Zero Fucks" Sarrin,
-A Contemptor dreadnought playing cards
-Cameos
-"My princeps, the world eaters in the ruins..they are cheering"
-Enough bolter porn to make a point, but enough nuance for it to be in context because isn't it always Skane?

Best Book of the Heresy

ADB is an amazing author and Betrayer exemplifies that. From start to finish you are drawn in and Keebles performance brings out every nuance contained in the story. Well done!
