Written by two psychologists who specialize in sleep disorders, the book contains helpful exercises and insights into how you can better manage your thoughts at bedtime and finally get some sleep.

Traditional treatment for insomnia is usually focused on medications that promote sedation rather than on the behavioral causes of insomnia. Unfortunately, medication can often lead to addiction and a host of other side effects. This is a great book for anyone who is looking for effective therapy to treat insomnia without the use of medication.

The book I recommend as a sleep specialist

I am a professional sleep specialist and this is the book I most often recommended for insomnia to my patients. It is a very good overview of cognitive behavioral therapy, the therapy recommended by the AASM.

Useful. More than just sleep hygiene

I like this book. It was useful and that they had a lot of information that I hadn’t read before. Most of the other Sleep books I have read talk about sleep hygiene. I’ve done all that but this has some other information that I think is going to be helpful.

no new information - annoying, narrator

Annoying narrator and all about setting a schedule. This is very difficult to listen to as there is absolutely no inflection. It is sing-songy repetitive and drags on. The whole emphasis of this book is to set a schedule. If I didn't have a life and could do nothing but set schedules and have everyone adjust everything to me, it might work. However, I have a life with family, friends, a job, pets and children. I do not recommend this book at all.
