The New York Times bestselling conclusion to the groundbreaking, Hugo Award-winning series from China's most beloved science fiction author, Cixin Liu.

Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to co-exist peacefully as equals without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

Cheng Xin, an aerospace engineer from the early twenty-first century, awakens from hibernation in this new age. She brings with her knowledge of a long-forgotten program dating from the beginning of the Trisolar Crisis, and her very presence may upset the delicate balance between two worlds. Will humanity reach for the stars or die in its cradle?

Just when I finally get my head wrapped around some huge grand mind blowing premise in this book Cixin Liu unfolds another one, over and over again. Brilliant.

Best sci-fi I've ever read

Required reading for diplomats and anthrpologists. It unfortunately may explain more than the Fermi paradox. The book is a rare book of hard scifi that extends its remit to the social sciences with a genius akin to Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. Mr. Liu goes one better than Asimov in that he clearly specifies his axiom base and ruthlessly follows the implications.

Fermi paradox meets first contact.

Another great delivery by P.J. Ochlan. Cixin Liu has created another great work of science fiction that was beautifully translated by Ken Liu.

Those familiar with the sequel will enjoy Death's End and the author's visualization of complex abstract physics theories. I only give the story a 4 out of 5 as I felt the author started to overuse Deus ex machina to speed up the story so as to avoid a fourth novel (which I would have preferred).

Well done sir. Fantastic trilogy

What did you like about this audiobook?

I most definitely not only "would" recommend this audiobook but I am going to recommend it! I love this book! The narrator is fantastic in depicting the voices and sentiments of many complex characters. This book is not for the feint of heart or for those who are not knowledgeable in some way of physics and the cosmos. I could not get enough of this epic story. My only regret is that I didn't realize there was a book Between, The 3 Body Problem and Death's End (Black Forest.) I will have to read that one ASAP!

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

My interest in the subject matter has always been 100% but I absolutely devoured the hard core science (fiction) content in this series that enveloped physics, the cosmos and the wonders of what could be in the future! It was an exemplary exposition of how Magical Science can be. I can say my interest in Cixin Liu has increased even more than after I read, The Three Body Problem!

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Absolutely! The sheer accuracy of Science in it's complicated form yet magical possibilities made everything about this story exciting, intellectual, romantic, brilliant and thoroughly engaging. What a fascinating mind Cixin Liu possesses! His writing is like Music to me; it reaches so many creative aspects in my mind, soul and heart! I am eager to read more by him. I love that his writing awakens and enhances things I know about History and Science but more importantly, I learn from this writer! I LOVE that!

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

This Narrator was incredible! He was probably one of the BEST I've listened to! His voices were exceptional in tone, timing and sentiment! I am going to look for more audiobooks Narrated by P. J. Ochlan!!

Do you have any additional comments?

There were so many aspects of this book that I wanted to write down and ponder over but I never did. I am going to have to listen to it again and get the hard copy of this book, no doubt! Many times I thought this would make a wonderful physical representation in a Film, but then I reconsidered because I'm not sure it can be replicated in celluloid! If it does get made, it MUST be in a supreme TV series, such as only an independent channel production can deliver! (HBO, SHOWTIME, Starz, Etc.)

Brilliant and Poetic!

The concept of living forever is tested in this theory of space and time travel. Complexities of aging and growth of civilizations was fascinating. I enjoyed the book and it kept me puzzling about the universe and society.

You cannot escape reality.
