Publisher's Summary

A short story collection from New York Times best-selling author Cixin Liu. The title story, "The Wandering Earth", was a blockbuster international film, currently streaming on Netflix.

These 11 stories, including five Chinese Galaxy Award winners, are a blazingly original ode to planet Earth, its pasts, and its futures. Liu's fiction takes the listener to the edge of the universe and the end of time, to meet stranger fates than we could have ever imagined. With a melancholic and keen understanding of human nature, Liu's stories show humanity's attempts to reason, navigate, and above all, survive in a desolate cosmos.

Extraordinary book!

I love every story! This is a captivating book, great narrative and performance. I don’t understand the bad review at all. It’s an amazing sci-fi fiction collection as believable as it gets.

"Nope, just nope."

I greatly disliked this story. It is too unrelatable and unbelievable. The characters within do not act believably. The performance on the other hand is quite good. Also the author seems interested in pushing disagreeable ideas. Look into it before you buy it to make sure you aren't wasting your money.

Exceeded Expectations!

After the "Three Body Problem" trilogy, I wasn't sure Cixin Liu could "do it again."

But he did! Or he has. Whatever!

The short stories in "The Wandering Earth" explore and playfully play with all sorts of big ideas in ways that pull the reader in and expand the imagination.

Be prepared: This is not your well-trodden Anglo-Saxon SF. But if you are open to non-Western perspectives and modes, dive in and drink deep!

Be prepared, too, to laugh out loud at times. Cixin Liu's humor is exquisite, as when he is a character in one of his own stories.

Not sure why some reader-reviewers did not care for the narration. For me, the narrators' voices fit the stories and characters well.

In short, uncertain that any author could rival earlier masterpieces, "The Wandering Earth" exceeded my expectations, and then some.

Enjoy!

It’s hard not to give us five stars

While I think that Ball Lightning and the Three Body Problem were superior in some ways, this is still a magnificent collection, and absolutely worth anyone’s time!

Beautiful thought provoking stories

What an incredible journey through all the stories. I like how some of them connect. I enjoyed every story. The stories that I thought started off slow or I thought I was getting bored with ended up finishing magnificently. The stories that started off interesting kept that some power thru out. 5/5. I wonder if Cixin Liu is the best hard sci fi author of all time.

Incredible!

A science based dystopic, but hopeful attitude toward the possible near future. Thank you to the author, and the performers and
producers involved. Fun to read and listen.

sci Fi realism that's vivid and impressive

good collection of stories. although self destruction is a prevalent theme, it's good to think of how these things happen and what should be avoided. even though it's science fiction, the level of detail seems as though these things could happen and the lessons learned are still valid.
