Even though he’s on forced leave from the clandestine intelligence group known as The Campus, Jack Ryan, Jr., still finds himself caught in the crosshairs after an attempt on his life is thwarted when he turns the tables on his would-be dispatcher. Convinced that the attack is linked to his recent covert actions with the convalescing Iranian national Ysabel Kashini, Jack sets out to find out who wants him dead, and why.
Using clues found on the now dead assassin, Jack pursues the investigation, following a growing trail of corpses to the European Union’s premier private security firm, Rostock Security Group, and its founder, Jürgen Rostock—a former general in the German Special Forces Command. Rostock is world-renowned as a philanthropist and human rights advocate. But Jack knows him from a Campus mission revolving around a company linked to RSG—a mission that has put him on Rostock’s lethal radar.
Without any Campus resources, Jack launches his own shadow campaign to uncover the truth about Rostock and a long-running false-flag war of terror that has claimed thousands of lives. Yet all of that bloodshed is but a precursor to a coming catastrophic event that will solidify Rostock’s place among the global powers. An event that Jack must stop at any cost.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, the Jack Ryan universe is a great one, Tom Clancy invented it and Mark Greaney keeps it alive with great books, but Grant Blackwood can't fill the shoes. The book is just not worthy of the Tom Clancy name...

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

No reaction, the ending wasn't interesting at all

Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?

The only reason I listened until the end was Scott's excellent performance. He gives life to all the characters with passion and style.

Do you think Tom Clancy Duty and Honor needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Nothing to follow up there. Just Ryan going back to ''active duty''. Since the next one will be by Mark Greaney I'm sure he'll do a great job

Any additional comments?

I listened to all the Jack Ryan audiobooks. First performed by Michael Prichard and after that by Scott Brick and Lou Diamond Phillips. I love this series and I'm glad that at least one of the two authors that are keeping Jack and the crew alive is very good at it, I'm talking about Mark. Duty and Honor is not a bad book, but neither is it a good one...

Not a Jack Ryan novel

New characters in the mix while Jack is on Suspension from the campus. Efrin a journalist becomes jacks trusted confidante through this globe trotting adventure of high stakes fraud, and ruthless activities that have no regard for human life. A lot of computer hacking going on behind the scenes in this book.
Grant Blackwood brings about a little different feel to a Clancy stylized book, and sometimes I don't think you get to know the characters as well as you did when Clancy was still writing...but hey I love a good Jack Ryan Jr story

Jack Ryan Jr. Suspended

Having cherished every moment of each novel since Red October for their complex but credible interweaving plots, I am deeply disappointed. This book has nothing to do with duty or honor. It is just another semi-super-hero story with a predictable linear plot. Almost impossible to suspend disbelief. Jack Ryan, Jr. is no different than the Gray Man. Unfortunately Greaney has given up trying to remain at Clancy's level.

Tactics that are used to resolve the case are very current. The use of their smart phones and Google Earth made everything up-to-date.

Good Suspense
