Spring has arrived, and open war with it. Mostly healed from his wound, Alexander departs the Dragon Isle only to be set upon by enemies from all sides. Outnumbered, desperate, and running for his life, he’s shipwrecked in enemy territory then sold into slavery in the fabled city of Mithel Dour. Ancient and mysterious, it’s said that the city was discovered rather than built. Within, Alexander finds a secret so old and so powerful that it could turn the tide of war…and possibly doom Isabel to the netherworld in the process.

Loved everything about it: the narrator, the story line, the descriptions of the different locations and the character development.

Exceptional.

Great series so far! Once you get over some of the repetitive language (ex., "dangerously serious", "darkness comes my love", scintillating ball of light", etc...), it really is a great story. First couple of books don't have many story lines, but this develops by book three. Last book should be great and I'll be sad once this series is over. Definitely a "light" and feel good fantasy series, where you know "good" will win.

Excellent series

good vs evil. innocence thrust into unwanted power. an epic journey.
A very familiar theme and yet David Wells has recreated it. he has woven a deep, but fun and comprehensible storyline with rich characters the reader is willingly forced into developing relationships with. there are classic foes and highly imaginative, refreshing and newly created ones. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and definitely recommend it.
