Every man is born with just one thing: his sovereignty - his power to respond to his environment and his circumstances. Unfortunately, most men have spent much of their lives giving away that sovereignty. Every time a man passes blame or shirks his responsibility, every time he makes excuses for his performance, and every time he trades his unlimited potential for a little perceived safety and security, he willingly submits himself to the mercy of others.

Story
The early "New Age" philosophy of "New Thought", which was wildly popular at the turn of the 20th century, owes much of its emphasis on the concept of "mind over matter" to the works of Thomas Troward. This audiobook contains the substance of a course of lectures given by the author in the Queen Street Hall, Edinburgh. Its purpose is to indicate the Natural Principles governing the relation between Mental Action and Material Conditions, and thus to afford the student an intelligible starting point for the practical study of the subject.

Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

This new edition combines As a Man Thinketh with Mastery of Destiny. In Mastery of Destiny, Allen reveals that the natural progression of human evolution is away from the evil that results from ignorance and toward ultimate good. Combined in one program, these two audiobooks offer a revolutionary outlook of empowerment.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Clear and beautiful
Would you consider the audio edition of As a Man Thinketh to be better than the print version?
I love the comparison between mind and garden. How we grow has to do with what we choose to cultivate and what we choose to weed out. The message really resonated with me and had a strong immediate effect on my consciousness. We easily forget our own power and this is a good reminder, a small step back to get a clearer view. It's short and it is a pleasure so I'll probably listen to it again.
What does Brian Holsopple bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think his pacing is just right.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I didn't seat, I went for a walk, that is why I use audiobooks.

Great timeless book and very good narration
What made the experience of listening to As a Man Thinketh the most enjoyable?
I like the narration. I listened to several excerpts and this is one of the best narrations for this book.
What other book might you compare As a Man Thinketh to, and why?
This book is about changing your character and have it reflect in your external circumstances. I find it more practical than some of the other 'law of attraction' books so I'll even compare it to a very practical self-help book like On Form by James E. Loehr and Tony Schwartz.
What does Brian Holsopple bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I liked the commanding voice of the narrator compared to many other audio books I've listened to.

Classic Simplicity
A brilliant short book with brilliant ideas. Some Perhaps an over emphasis on the impact of personal effort on one's circumstances (there are many factors contributing to people's circumstances that cannot be controlled). Also, the gender biased language made me cringe! Understandable from the time it was written, but definitely outdated reference to 'man', etc. Otherwise wonderful.
