Editorial Reviews

In The Velvet Underground: The Alan Cross Guide, broadcaster and music writer Alan Cross offers a concise, fascinating overview of this groundbreaking New York band.

Cross speaks knowledgably about "the Velvets" and their impact on alternative rock bands like Nirvana and David Bowie. He provides biographies on the group’s members, especially singer Lou Reed, and provides little-known tidbits about the making of the band’s four studio albums.

Cross has the tone and delivery of an experienced radio disc jockey. Although his performance is rehearsed, his delivery feels off-the-cuff and conversational.

Publisher's Summary

In this new audiobook, broadcaster and music writer Alan Cross narrates the definitive history of The Velvet Underground. Cross succeeds once again in revealing the fascinating history behind the music in the same compelling way we've come to expect from his long broadcasting career.
Rock on: listen to another Alan Cross Guide.
