Loved it!!!

Bill invites us in and makes us feel like we are old friends. His stories are so entertaining! I knew I would laugh a lot, but what a nice surprise it was to hear his touching personal stories about love and life and family.

It's Bill's world & we're just living in it.

I must admit that I'm a die-hard Shatner fan. From James T. Kirk, to T.J. Hooker, to Walter Bascom, to Denny Crane....although the fave being Kirk......always Kirk.

I really enjoyed this book. It is FUNNY....many places laugh-out-loud funny. The writer does well in capturing Bill's dry sense of humor. He has a good time poking fun at both others and himself. I think like most of us, the older we get, we come to the realization that life is short & many things we thought were SO important, really aren't in the scheme of it all.

Nice blend/balance of a serious nature when he talks about his wife Nerine's untimely death, his love for horses & his family & how he's dealing with aging & being in his 80's. He does a great job of making people see him as Bill, not as Kirk, or Hooker. Some can make fun all they want; but he just keeps re-inventing himself with different projects & characters. That's the best example of creativity I know. Love all the anecdotes from his early career right up to the present.

I listened to the audio & I would highly recommend this format over paper book form if you have the option. Hearing William Shatner narrate it himself makes the humorous moments funnier & the serious subjects have more depth & feeling. Either way, this is an enjoyable book. It's a great bio without being weighed down in detail or being stuffy.

He ends it with great advice for people of all ages: "Say 'YES'. Take advantage of any & all of your opportunities no matter how big or small." Thanks, Bill. I will remember that & pass it on!

I laught 4 hours!!

This book is so much fun! I just laughed thru it!

But important thing what this book tells you is that never be ashamed that you are old! Never actually be old! And when you are old there so much things you have already experienced but theres so much things you still havent. Be brave, dont get stuck your bed, you have still life to live. And remember allways those best, funniest and embarrasing moments wich has happened to you.

I would definetly buy this book for my mother who is over 70 and thinks that her life is starting to be over. But she doesnt read english.
So, I will recommend this all those who want to read something fun. Even if you dont like Shatner..even still ;) because there is so much more in it..

Don't take it seriously

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes it was entertaining but pretty silly. The busting he does to Takei was really funny. As long as you are listening for some humor and not a psychological insight on the author you should be fine.

Would you recommend Shatner Rules to your friends? Why or why not?

Just to people who are fans of the Shatner. High brow people would not enjoy this very much.

Was Shatner Rules worth the listening time?

Yes.

fun

Shatner is fun to listen to. Very self serving but that's always been a part of what makes Shatner tick. Overall this is a light hearted autobiography masquerading as self help book. Should you get this book? Yes (sorry for the spoiler).

Entertaining!

Enjoyed this book. Had a few laugh out loud moments. Should be listened to rather than read in order to get the full William Shatner who is always entertaining.

I can't believe he's 80!

What's not to like. Cute stories about his life and career seasoned with the unique Shatner flavor. I only wish it was longer. If you like William Shatner than you like like this one.

Bing! Rule - have a listen.

William Shatner aka Bill, has become know for his candor. Good dose here! I enjoyed the tales he tells from the perspective of being 80. Of course I loved Up Til Now. Rules isn't a sequel. It's a stand alone memoir containng many threads, culminating in the realization that life looks different from the other side of 80, but isn't any different.

It's a funny book with only one caveat - Bill gets carried away speaking Esperanto for many minutes and almost drove me crazy. I didn't see any particular reason for it, but he must have enjoyed it. Bing! Rule - say yes to this book.
