Exclusive to Audible. M. C. Beaton talks about her Agatha Raisin series.
I'm mesmerised by Beaton's Hamish Macbeth books read by Graeme Malcolm. It was a real treat listening to Marilyn Beaton share that each book is difficult to right because there's always the fear that she won't be able to do it. She said you have to work for your readers. Which really shows in her books.
I adore M.C. Beatons stories. Her Agatha Raisin mysteries are addictive! She certainly knows how to captivate her audience. In listening to her stories, I am brought back to my own wonderful times on The Cotswolds and my find memories are cemented even deeper in my mind.
Actually the first time I've heard Marion's voice. :) It was a delight. Sometimes in written interviews she comes off as a little abrupt but not here. Interesting to hear her inspirations and get to know her just a little bit. I don't want to look behind the curtain too much but a glimpse--why yes!
I've long had an image of MC Beaton in the back of my mind as I read or listened to all the Agatha Raisin books and I imagined her either as Agatha or Mrs Bloxby. She's neither! She's even better. Her comments about reading and writing (ah, that procrastination!) made me laugh and warmed my heart because her views on why people read were "spot on" with my own and these days that doesn't happen often. Obviously a majority of people don't read out of a book before going to bed. Whereas, that's a family tradition for me despite what doctors and non-readers may say about it ruining your sleep! As if!
Thank you for the free interview.
Nice to hear an interview with one of my favorite authors. A good interview and interviewer.
