This is a totally fun "read" for those times when all you really need is a trip away from the real world--if only for a few hours.

Just as Harry Potter made it seem very natural to have wizards among us this story makes me believe in the world of fairies--to use the book's generic term for all those beings that inhabit our fantasies. From the rock eating dwarfs to the scientific genius of the centaur that works with LEPrecon all the characters are fantastic.

I bought the first book and couldn't put it down, so I had to get the second book as my second selection for the month. I can't wait for next month and the third book of the series. I hope Mr. Colfer writes many more in this wonderful series.

A very fun read

Artemis Fowl lived up to all my expectations of a book in this genre. Fun and easy listening. Sometimes I didn't want to turn the car off because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!

Fun for kids and adults

So imaginative and funny. Very well written, with excellent characters. My only slight quibble is the narrator’s wandering Irish accents. Butler’s accent went from southern to Northern Irish, but otherwise great narrating too.

Great story & well narrated - mostly!

This book was fun. If you are in need of a light read this is a good choice. It is fairly short (under 6hrs) and does not get bogged down, it just keeps moving.

The narrator was supreme. His accents, inflections, and choices for voices were spot on perfect. Editing was also done well, no weird background noises or funky spacing.

Fun and Easy

Would you consider the audio edition of Artemis Fowl to be better than the print version?

Really an exceptional story full of fantastic imagery. I will most definitely listen to the next book in the series.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline is wonderful. It you like Harry Potter you will enjoy this character.

What does Nathaniel Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice matches the book perfectly.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could not stop listening. Lucky I was on a long trip.

Artemis’ story is wonderful. Eion Colfer did a great job of writing two sides to the same story. You can’t help cheering on both sides and trying to figure out what Artemis has up his sleeve.

Great story, decent narrator...

Where does Artemis Fowl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Its one of my favorites. The narrator does an amazing job with the voices and it's one of the few books that each character has there own personalities. I've listened to a LOT of audiobooks. I mostly borrow them from the library first and then purchase them here in audibles. My husband and I decided that once we have children we want them to listen to as many audiobooks as possible as an alternative to watching tv in the car and at home. Also for those times we will be busy to read to them at night. I've collected all the Artemis fowl books on audibles and are keeping them safe for my future litenings and for my babies:)

The one problem I have with the narrator is that he can't pull of some accents. Especially the Asian ones. They are pretty off and I am an expert on Hispanic and Asian accents. If you can get past those characters than its worth your time. Luckily he is European and most of the main characters have a European accent.

The story is great and fun for all ages in my opinion. The first 5 books are awesome but eoin colfer should find a way to end this series. the sixth lost my attention.

What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?

Amazing!

Any additional comments?

Only listen to the books read by Nathaniel Parker. If you see a different name forget it. I think the time paradox was read by someone else...awful! I did some research and footwork to get the Nathaniel Parker narration. Well worth it. The last guy was awful awful awful. I hope he doesn't read this...sorry mate:)

Classic, fun, something for your kids and you.

I could wax poetic about the story of Artemis Fowl - which is a fantastic amalgamation of youthful fantasy, comedy, and sheer cleverness that really can suit anyone still in possession of their imagination - but this is honestly one of the few audiobooks I recommend above reading the book on your own. Nathaniel Parker is absolutely phenomenal. He reads flawlessly, his comedic timing is excellent, and his distinct character voices elevate the experience of this story so much that it feels more like a one-man dramatization than just a simple audiobook. I've listened to this performance at least three times, and I've always thoroughly enjoyed it. The character of Artemis Fowl is a perfect bridge for the adult listener and the child. He has a lithe kind of intelligence that makes him engaging for the older audience members, but a childlike ability to believe the impossible that only children are really capable of. There isn't a single person I wouldn't recommend this too. If you like good things, and if you can spend a few hours to not take things too seriously, this is the audiobook for you.

It doesn't get much better than this

First read the Artemis Fowl series with my oldest son when he was in elementary. Listening to the series again is just reliving a beloved classic. I had forgotten what a rugrat he was!! :)

Great Story
