As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. Story
Ricky Desmond has been through this all before. If he could just get through to his mother, he could convince her that he doesn't belong at Brookline. From the man who thinks he can fly to the woman who killed her husband, the other patients are nothing like him; all he did was lose his temper just a little bit, just the once. But when Ricky is selected by the sinister Warden Crawford for a very special program - a program that the warden claims will not cure him but perfect him - Ricky realizes that he may not be able to wait for his mom a second longer.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Alice is different than other 18-year-old ladies in Kexford, which is perfectly fine with her. She’d rather spend golden afternoons with her trusty camera or in her aunt Vivian’s lively salon, ignoring her sister’s wishes that she stop all that “nonsense” and become a “respectable” member of society. Alice is happy to meander to Miss. Yao’s teashop or to visit the children playing in the Square. She’s also interested in learning more about the young lawyer she met there, but just because she’s curious, of course, not because he was sweet and charming.

Publisher's Summary
A companion to the best-selling Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, soon to be a major motion picture directed by Tim Burton.
Before Miss Peregrine gave them a home, the story of peculiars was written in the Tales.
Wealthy cannibals who dine on the discarded limbs of peculiars. A fork-tongued princess. These are but a few of the truly brilliant stories in Tales of the Peculiar - the collection of fairy tales known to hide information about the peculiar world, including clues to the locations of time loops - first introduced by Ransom Riggs in his number-one best-selling Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series.
Riggs now invites you to share his secrets of peculiar history with a collection of original stories in this deluxe volume of Tales of the Peculiar, as collected and annotated by Millard Nullings, ward of Miss Peregrine and scholar of all things peculiar.
Featuring narration by Simon Callow, this compelling and truly peculiar anthology is the perfect gift for not only fans, but for all booklovers.
Narrated by Simon Callow, with Bruce Mann and Garrick Hagon “[These tales] embody gentle, empowering messages: accept yourself and others; celebrate difference and oddity; never lose your sense of wonder.” (Financial Times)
“With a Victorian style for writing and a capacity for subtle humor, the tales read as cautionary fables, rich with peril and phantasy, and will be enjoyed by teens and adults alike.” (GeekDad.com)

Delightful short stories from the peculiar world
This is such a fun book of peculiar tales that anyone can grow to love. You don't have to have read the novels to fall in love with this unique treasure. The narration is excellent; full of life and propriety. 😊 great short stories for children as well as adults. I think they would be fun to listen to or read aloud during October halloween time!🎃 👻

seems tailored to a younger audience than the seri
although there were mature concepts (e.g. death), these stories seemed like they were meant more for younger kids than the original series. the tales are similar to the fairy tales I had growing up....each with some type of scary outcome and a moral lesson to them. they weren't as emotion-provoking as the books and there were no cliff hangers to keep you going. on a positive note, the tales remained true to the style and themes of the books and were an enjoyable extension of peculiardom.

Amazing addition to the series...
I absolutely loved Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and when I found out Ransom Riggs was coming out with this before the movie comes out I had to read it. Amazing stories. So well thought out. The footnote made it seem that much closer to Non-fiction. The book is beautifully made with an amazing silk thread book mark that I never got to use, finished it right away. Couldn't stop and will definitely read again. LOVE!!!
