Publisher's summary

Twelve women connected by the death of another, realizing what they most want from life and reaching for it - this is the year of discovery, the year of new beginnings.

Rosie’s life seemed perfect to outside observers. She had a good marriage and two sons who were doing well in school, but something was missing. Her job as a loan officer had become tedious, but the idea of going back to school when her family needed her seemed like a risky move. Until she met Madelyn Yates and discovered that sometimes you have to take a risk if you want to live out your dreams.

Now Rosie faces going to college decades after most people have already left, but unlike her classmates, Rosie has responsibilities that do not make room for things like lectures and midterms. Will she be able to balance it all or will the strain drive a wedge between her and those she loves most?

Rosie's Life

This will be a 12 short book series in 4th book Aril is about Rosie Estrada who has her hands full. She is married to Rafael, has 2 sons Nesto and Teban, a full time job as loan officer and wants to better herself by going to college. All of the characters are likable and real. I was upset when Rafael was harassed by the cop. Story starts out with family visiting Maddie. Narration was great only complaint was too short but looking forward to next one to find out more of Destiny, Dario, Lexi, Vickie, Maddie, and Henry, and many more. Recommend if you enjoy a good story about life from different aspects. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Another Great Read by M. L. Hamilton

April: The Year of Discovery, Book Four was another great read by M.L. Hamilton. Rosie has what seems like the perfect life; a great husband and two sons. Unfortunately for Rosie, she feels like there is something missing. She is a loan officer at a bank but has always wanted to go back to school. She finds herself back in college and facing the day to day responsibilities of work, family and school. I really enjoyed Rosie's story about life and discovery. I can't wait to read more by M.L. Hamilton.

a good book

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Interestingly, this book hit pretty close to home. I completed my degree in my 30's and had to juggle work, a family, and all of that on top of class work. It was definitely a struggle, so I really related to the main character of this book in the series. Like the rest of the series, this is well written and narrated. These books are very character driven and come across as relatable.

April: The Year of Discovery, Book 4

As the year of discovery continues, this is Rosie’s story.

Rosie has always put her family first and she’s happy, but sometimes you need more. Her dream has always been to go back to school and get a college education, but is that even possible with all of her responsibilities?

M.L. Hamilton has given us a series that really makes you think... think about what’s important in your life and the importance of following your dreams.

Kelley Hazen does an impressive job with all of her narrations. She can draw you right into the story with all the emotions and feelings.

A Great Series

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it inspiring. It isn't that Rosie is unhappy with her life, but being inspired by customer, she wants more. Taking a college class isn't easy with a full time job, a husband and two kids though and of course life just keeps tossing things at them. The characters are so well written and believable, you just lose yourself in the story. This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world. Looking forward to more from the series.

April - Rosie's tale...

Rosie, a middle-aged mother of Latin origins, decides to go back to school to get a degree - and has to handle both studying and coping with problems in her family, not really certain of their support for her pursuing her dreams... Until one fateful day that changes everything...

The 4th part in the Year of Discovery series touches on two completely different issues, both equally important. One, it tries to answer the quesion whether it's possible to fulfill your dreams at a later stage in your life without harming your family. The second is more sensitive as it touches on racial discrimination: can you be born in a country from immigrant parents and still be treated like a foreigner and a threat to society even though you've been a member of that society from the day you were born?

Rosie's tale is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. You feel her sorrows and her happiness, you have moments of doubt and you live through terror and trauma together with her... It's a moving, touching story with a sense of hope at the end...

Narration by Ms Hazen is very good, as ususal. She does the voices really well, and she conveys all the emotions perfectly. It's a very good interpretation of the book (and of the series).
