A masterpiece!!

No words. I have no words. This is an absolute masterpiece😭 SenLinYu created something that stood on it’s own entirely while also using elements of my favorite fanfiction story to inspire the concept. I enjoyed the necromancy and alchemy as the magic system, the chimaeras, the undead & the way immortality was used by the villain to seduce his followers. This is a DARK fantasy with a love story at it’s core and was actually so much darker that it’s fanfic counterpart and I believe better worldbuilding and depth because of the freedom Sen has in creating something of her own. Some non-spoilery themes: forbidden love during war, a villain who tortures and kills and destroys to no end, a possessive MMC who would burn the world for her, a headstrong and intelligent FMC, friendships and how war rages on despite it all, feeling alone and finding solace in another, and the strength it takes to push on even when you’re so so tired. I am forever in awe of Sen’s dark, powerful, beautiful writing. I already want to reread and highlight the hell out of it!

I really enjoyed this book! It was creative and engaging. The reader did an excellent job with the audio. It was a great listen.

Truly Incredible

Deathly Hallows meets Handmaidens Tale but with a slow burn forbidden romance and more war and espionage. The world building and character development are masterful. If you grew up reading Harry Potter and Hunger Games, this book is the adult evolution that you didn’t know you needed. Can’t recommend this enough. Do not miss this.

Absolutely gut-wrenching!

I sobbed through the entire book. Alchemised delivers incredible world-building and emotional depth that stayed with me long after I finished. If you loved Manacled, this hits just as hard — but as a standalone, it’s a masterpiece in its own right. Unforgettable. Heartbreaking. Beautiful.

I’m devastated and satisfied all at the same time

Alchemised is a book that isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a dark romance that constantly has you asking “Who is the bad guy?” And like in the real world, things are grey and not easy to categorize as light or dark. The thought that the author put into the characters creates a world that is so vivid that you’re transported there. The voice actors were incredible and brought this book to life. It was so good that I never even sped it up. I wanted to savor every moment even if I knew I was going to be destroyed, often. I just finished the book and need to start it all over again. This is my #1 read of 2025!!!

Everything about this book is worth it. Hands down one of the best books I have read. I wouldn't change a single thing.

Hauntingly beautiful!

I read manacled so I had an idea of the story. I didn't expect it to pull me in quite so fully. It's the most beautifully written books I've ever listened to/read. I listened to the audio book this first go around and intend on reading it from the physical book next. I could not put it down. I haven't been so IN a story/book like this in years. the narrator was masterful with her voices and accents of all the different characters. I don't know what else to say. this story will change you. masterfully done!

Hanging on to hope and love even in the darkest of times

I am speechless. This is a phenomenal book and is hands down a six star read. The ending broke me because all Helena ever wanted was to be free with Kaine and did whatever it took to survive. She’s relentless in a world that is constantly trying to control her. It’s dark, gothic, gruesome, yet tragically beautiful. My heart hurts 😔

Absolutely phenomenal

I really am speechless. It’s rare to get to read a book you love for the first time again and with Alchemised I was able to. I was able to jump back into their world and experience it for the first time again and it was incredible. Now that it’s over I legit feel empty. Just a warning, make sure you read the trigger warnings. While there is “romance” it’s definitely not a Romantasy or dark romance. I highly recommend you read or listen to this book. 27/10
