Not up to Follett’s normal standards

Boring . I tried to finish it and I couldn’t . I felt like he was pulling at straws trying to write this book. So disappointing!

Great story

I have long loved the stories weaved by Follett. I enjoy the way he tells a story along with history. I enjoyed listening to the story, since I typically have only read the books. I would recommend

The rehash of pillars.

If you enjoy your historical fiction complete with 21st century sexual mores and politics with sex scenes you could find on any 15 year old boys internet search history this book is for you.
Pillars was a wonderful book. This try’s to be the same book but fails. Even though I listened to the whole thing if I had it do over again I’d save my credit.

Historical fiction with real people

I like the way the different tribes had customs and were committed to their view of life. Some of the tribes, appreciated kindness. Yet the farmers had a bully as their leader. It showed how greed caused wars.

The narrator’s voice was fabulous

Excellent performance! Enjoyed immensely. I appreciated the visual of the great monument and how it may have come to be

Not as engaging as Follett usually gives

The story has an interesting beginning and ending, but the in between gets muddy and lost. Character development is lacking. Interesting topic, but underwhelming.

Well performed and good story. A bit long. Could use some editing. Can be somewhat repetitive.
