Publisher's summary

Grant Masterson is a man with nothing left to lose....

A disgraced ex-cop, framed by a crooked politician, abandoned by his family, he’s forced into the life of a bounty hunter just to survive.

Tracking down a traitor who stole military grade weapons to sell on the black market, Masterson finds out things aren’t as simple as the wanted poster made them seem.

Because Delia Beckett isn’t a traitor, simply a patsy, and the forces manipulating her may be the same ones responsible for Masterson’s fall from grace.

Can a beat-up bounty hunter and his robot dog find the truth chasing a fugitive in a backwater colony town? Or will their journey to Absolution be their last hunt? Find out in this science-fiction thrill ride from Rick Partlow, the best-selling author of the Drop Trooper series.

better than I thought

This book was way better than I thought it would be, I actually really liked this book, and I think Rick partlow did really good writing this, and I also can't wait for book 2.

I feel like the narration was good, I feel like it could've been better, but I still liked it, I just feel he could've worked on his girl voices, I think they were lacking and they could've been better. other than that I liked him, his voices weren't overly annoying, and I actually like his main narration voice. I'd like to hear him in book 2, and in other books.

the characters were also good, I loved the robo dog, and I think he's one of the best characters in this story, I also like the mc, he's pretty humorous and he has some depth to him, they both also have unique personalities.
I like the other side characters also, but not as much as the main characters, I think the side characters have depth to them, and none of them really irk me. I don't think anyone will have any problem with the characters in this book, at all.
I also mentioned how the mc was humorous, I completely agree with what I said, there are some parts of this story where I'm just laughing.
i really like some of the humor in this book, and I think it's one of the best parts of star bounty.

Now let's talk about the plot, it's not overly good, but it's also not overly bad. I honestly think it's okay, not something game changing, but also not something that's garbage.
I liked it... enough, I do think there are other (better) things about this book, but this also has to be mentioned.
I also like the premise of this book, you don't get much bounty hunter books like this, and the last one I listened to even remotely like this was Black badge.
the world building was good also, I like how the world is built, and I think it's pretty detailed.

This book also has its fair share of action in it, I like the action, it's pretty good. it's also not something game-changing but I do still think it was pretty enjoyable.

I really liked this book, it was better than I thought it would be. I do think this book is worth the credit, even with how short it is.
I can't wait for book 2

Smacks of Firefly, in a good way

Lot of fun, good setup for the future, a little heavy on the profanity.

Great start to a new series

This was my first Rick Partlow book and will certainly not be my last. He has great characters, an engaging adventure and a fascinating picture of our potential future. All ingredients I look for in sci-fi, and the humor was a cherry on top. Garret Michael Brown is one of my favorite narrators. His tone is perfect for the snarky bounty Hunter and his AI dog voice provided plenty of laughs. Onto book two!

Great story. and narrator

This was a great story, with solid characters, and a new twist at least as far as I know, to the dog / snarky AI companion trope. Garrett Michael Brown was the perfect voice for this book. I love his style, and the way he can bring a level of snark and irreverence to the characters that need to put that kind of vibe out there. looking forward to listening to the rest of the series!
