Publisher's summary

The updated edition of the best-selling book that has changed millions of lives with its insights into the growth mindset.

“Through clever research studies and engaging writing, Dweck illuminates how our beliefs about our capabilities exert tremendous influence on how we learn and which paths we take in life.” (Bill Gates, GatesNotes)

After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, PhD, discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset - those who believe that abilities are fixed - are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset - those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishment.

In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset. She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love - to transform their lives and your own.

“An essential read for parents, teachers [and] coaches...as well as for those who would like to increase their own feelings of success and fulfillment.” (Library Journal, starred review)

Great stories within

The principles outlined in this book are excellent however there are a few chapters that seemed to be a little dry. It could be that they were less pertinent to my current life. Overall I really enjoyed listening and know that I’ll be listening again in the future to glean more wisdom from Dr. Dweck.

The core belief within all of us identified in this book Maybe the most important decider of successing happiness for a human being. as I listened I could see how work on vulnerability by Brene Brown, Grit by Duckworth, optimism research by See, and many more are affected by this core belief.

Mindset reset

I love how the author very simply changed my outlook on mindset. I have always thought of myself as an open minded person but never realized that I had a fixed mindset in some aspects of my life. This gave me a lot to think about in relationships with my spouse, children and myself as well as all other goals/aspirations I have for myself and family as well. With a growth mindset, I can take the stress of “perfection” off the plate and apply a more realistic and productive growth mindset in helping me achieve these goals.

The most important book of your life

This is the one.
I've read everything from Steve Jobs, Mohandas K. Gandhi and Nelson Mandelas Biographies, to Ray Dalios "Principles", David Goggins "Can't Hurt Me", Simon Sineks "Start With Why" and Napoleon Hills "Think, and grow rich"
But this one tops them all.
This is the one book you.
You do NOT want this one missing from your collection.
My very top recommendation of all existing books.
Get it, Own it, Live it

Great book and story on a single concept

I really liked the book. It elaborates thoroughly on a single concept that can be summarized simply so it gets to be rather long and repetitive. Nevertheless I do think is worth the listen but listening to an abridged version could probably be as good. In any case the whole concept of the growth mindset makes absolute sense and seems to me totally worth it to devote time and effort to understand it and put it in practice.

Interesting Mindsets

I learned about failure and successful individuals,
how different mindsets could work altogether. I found the authors research interesting.
