The Ex Hex

A Novel

By: Erin Sterling

Narrated by: Caitlin Davies

New York Times Bestseller

Erin Sterling casts a delightful spell with a spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and hexes gone wrong.

“A delightful and witty take on witchy mayhem.” — Popsugar

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

• A great read for spooky-season nights
• A perfect addition to any Halloween reading list

Maybe the worst narrator I’ve ever heard

The story is fun. But, I have to say, it is really really hard to listen to. It’s like the narrator has absolutely no idea what words she’s reading. Her intonation is completely incongruous with the words she’s saying. It’s like every sentence is somehow a question….. I’d avoid the audiobook at all costs and get this one as a physical book to read. Spare yourself…. Its so bad.

Intolerable narration performance

So I only listened to the fist 6 or so chapters because the narrator was driving me insane! The intonation is so very very wrong. She reads like that auto voice on tiktok where the emphasis is off. It’s like she’s not even considering the words she’s reading, which makes the story so hard to follow. Also, it’s a bummer that the Welsh characters don’t have a Welsh accent. Aaaanyway, I switched to hardcooy and enjoyed the book/story itself.

Charming and so enjoyable!

What a magical (pun intended) blend of humor, wit, mystery, and a little lightly steamy romance/sex! Just what I needed, and a perfect way to start October. I enjoyed the narrator, though I wish she had done a little more with the accents. Overall, a very fun, light listen on a rainy day. Looking forward to the continuation of this one...

super cute light hearted story

it was really cute and funny. definitely worth my audible credit! I will listen to this again!

Great beach read

This was a good story, but it wasn’t great. A good book for the beach or in between longer reads. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something light hearted and witchy themed.
