Blaine
When my name is involved in yet another scandal, I'm told to keep my head down and my stats up. The trade deadline is looming, and I don't want to leave Chicago.
That night, I meet Alex. The guy with the bluest eyes and the kindest smile. My reputation precedes me, and he's determined to resist me, but the more time we spend together, the harder it is to deny the chemistry between us.
He's someone who might make me want to change for the better. But can we survive the slap shots that come our way, or will my scandalous past hit harder than any defenseman could?
Alex
Being a lifelong Chicago Thunder fan, I know that Blaine Olsen is trouble. Because all hockey players are. He's a notorious playboy, and I refuse to be another notch on his bedpost. But when he shows me the part of himself he keeps hidden, it gets harder to resist him.
I can't afford any distractions, though. I'm up to my eyeballs in debt, doing everything I can to keep my head—and family business—above water.
Will Blaine prove me wrong and show me a hockey player could be my Prince Charming after all?
Trade Deadline is a low angst, hockey player/fan sports romance. It has team shenanigans, fast-paced hockey, cheesy texting, no third-act break-up, and puppies. It is book one in the Chicago Thunder series and can be enjoyed as a standalone.

I want to say why did nobody tell me to read this book, but I have seen several people read this! I have had it sitting on my TBR for too long, because I was enthralled in this book from the first time Blaine slammed into the boards, and winked at Alex from the penalty box! This was the perfect former player turned simp and I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of this series!
🍩Bakery Owner
🍩Hockey Player
🍩Former Player
🍩Simp
🍩Corny Pickup Lines
🍩Cake Decorating Competition
Blaine has been the subject of the puck bunny blogs for a while, but this time an inappropriate picture is posted with it. He needs to clean up his act! Because for the first time he is playing in the NHL with his twin brother, and he does not want to be traded because he can’t keep his name out of the media.
When he does he find Alex in the stands when he slams into the boards and he apills his beer all over his lap. Then when he show up and Gino’s after Blaine shoots his shot. But his reputation precedes him, and Alex has been hurt too many times by jocks and turn him down. Blaine is baffled and can’t get him out of his head. So when he goes to the bakery with Zack he is convinced it is fate, and gets his number.
Alex is going to make Blaine work for it! Blaine sends Alex the cheesiest pickup until he agrees to a date. Once they go on a date it clear that they are each other’s person. That they are both in it for the right reasons.
There is so much more! Will this relationship remove Blaine from the blogs? Will he still get traded? If he does will Alex pick up his leave and leave the bakery?

I've met them in Rebound Control, cuz ofc I started the series with book 5, and I knew, I knew I will go back and read their story. How could I not? I loved the glimpses I got of them in RC and, well... here we are.
Who would've thought Blaine is such a big sweetie? The way he went after Alex in the most cheesy way possible was so freaking cute. I am a su*ker for his cheesy lines, and for how goofy he is.
Alex is no exception. He is also super sweet and I love how good of a person he genuinely is.
The way Alex made Blaine work for his heart was hilarious. Not because he wanted to feel superior, but because he was hurt before and he was careful with his heart. I am so glad B understood the assignment and treated him right.
The found family in this series is amazing, and I can't wait to read all the other stories. I also can't wait to see more of Alex and Blaine together, because I know for a fact that will happen.
2/5 books read in this series and I am hooked. Is this possibly becoming my fav hockey series? Hmm... it seems like we're on the way.
What I loved the most about this book, and RC for that matter, is how we don't have significant drama. No third act break-up, just people who genuinely love each other, have healthy relationships, communicate, you know?! The bare minimum that became an exception nowadays.
It is nice to read queer stories that have not only happy endings but happy beginnings and middles and all that. This books are joy and sweetness. I hope the next 3 will be the same. Fingers crossed.
For now, Trade Deadline gets a 5✨️'s for me, that's a no brainer.
Onto the next one...
Great start 😍
