Weak story, strong read

I have enjoyed the Jack Ryan, Jr. stories for a while now. I think I finally realized why I like them. It wasn't just Jack Jr. I liked about them. It was the whole Campus team that I enjoyed. Frankly, I have loved Ding and Clark since Clear and Present Danger.

Now, even with a weak story, the reading kept me going. Scott Brick knows how to read this genre. He makes them enjoyable.

this is not a Tom Clancy written book

This book is good has a nice story but it's not written hoe he writes, this is just one story. I miss the long intertwining story's that meet at the end of the story, honestly I think if you are going to write under his name you should at least make an attempt to write as he does, this just seems lazy.

my least favorite so far

I found myself wondering how any of this could happen constantly. I don't think Jack is nearly as bumbling as he's made out to be. And further, Henley would be foolish to take him back after this last situation.

Jr. needs to grow up..

I thought the book ended pretty quickly. That being said, I still liked it a lot.

Compelling yet predictable

First of all, the narrator was superb. His use of pacing actions and drama made the book very, very enjoyable. The story however, was a bit predictable, And sometimes implausible – but overall and enjoyable read/listen. The Clancy novels are generally good, and this one was a little outside the normal Clancy box, a little far-fetched, and as I said before predictable.

but caught me off-guard with it slow start, I soon found myself embedded in it. I cant wait until the next book.

We actually preferred this to others

I have listened to many Jack Ryan novels and found this to be one of the most compelling. Instead of an uninterrupted flood of violent episodes and lots of coarse language, it more resembled the tightening of a spring - where each episode, often occurring in different parts of the world, built on previous ones, gradually revealing an evil genius. There is even a humorous sidekick character, which is rare for any of these books. I hope Grant Blackwood will write another Jack Ryan novel soon.

Intriguing

There will never be another Tom Clancy but at least Jack Ryan is still going strong. The book was a little hard to follow because of all the characters and all the countries visited. Might have been easier in written form but still an enjoyable read.
