Suspenseful

It has been sometime since I read any of the Clancy books that have come out after his death. This is book four in the Jack Ryan Jr. series written by Mike Maden. The setting for the book is Bosnia. Maden does a good job describing the countryside and its history. Jack Jr. is on vacation and his mother asks him to find a girl that she had performed eye surgery on during the war.

The writing is average. The plot twists and turns as the suspense builds throughout the story. I feel Maden is being held to the high standard of Clancy. Probably, the story would have been better if it was not compared. The story kept me engaged and I enjoyed the history lesson. If you are looking for an easy to read book, try this one out.

The book is just over twelve hours. Scott Brick does an excellent job narrating the book. Brick is an actor and voice-over artist. He is an award-winning narrator and is known for his “golden voice”.

Tom would have approved

Tom would have approved of this exciting edition. I am happy Jack Ryan lives on.

Right wing propaganda disguised as entertainment

Wow. It's no secret Tom Clancy was a Republican. But that's before the Republican party became the cult of conspiracy theories and fascists. Mike Maden definitely drinks the kool aid. He condemns antifa (like anti-fascism is a bad thing) for wearing masks. I guess he's never noticed his precious little proud boys wear masks with their Hitler youth uniform. The only time they won't wear masks is if it is to help others during a global pandemic. Guess I'm done with Tom Clancy.

Another TC winner

But I do miss the boys, their interactions & team “atmosphere “. I did get a little bored & bothered thinking it was going to be a Jack Jr. romance novel at one point. It did get better.

Great novel in the Clancy canon. Wish Ryan Jr. had a little more common sense but still great.

Great book!

Had to read on my transit to work. Luckily it's a 3 hour drive. Really hard to pause and go to work between readings
