Quick and fast
A quick listen. I didn't think the narration was bad at all, the accent was easy to understand.
I've been doing a variation of the fast 800 for 3 weeks and have lost 10lbs so far. I want to read this book for additional motivation and get the exact schedule. Hoping to lose 20+ more!

You'll be inspired to try it! --It Works!
Very convincing and you will believe you can do it after listening to Michael speak so passionately through the eyes of science and his own experiences. I must admit I have listened to all of Dr. Mosley's books and have done intermittent fasting for years. I still listened to this one as a reminder of why I do the fasting and because 2020 happened to my waistline. Jumped right back into the 5:2 approach with new vigor!

It's a great method and it works!
I'm a Physician myself and I tried Micheal Mosley's 5:2 diet 7 years ago. It worked for me, but I gave up after a few weeks. I didn't like being hungry twice a week. I've given it another go. This time I went 31 days on 800 cals/day. I quickly adapted - now, hunger doesn't bother me so much. It's a great method and it works!

Good book and info, not the best narration
The information and plan presented in the book are good, but the heavy British accent of the author effects the enjoyment of the reading and could cause some word comprehension issues for some people.

Works! 235lbs to 187lbs in just over 2.5 months!
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
All the weight I have lost has been purely through diet. I made it a point to NOT exercise short of the moderate activity my job entails 1 to 2 days a week. I did this to see if the process TRULY works.
I have followed these instructions and started on March 30th 2022.
My starting weight was 235 lb and at the time of this review I currently weigh 187 lb and my goal is 180lbs.
-I restricted my calories to 950 instead of the 800
-I'm intermittent fasting 18–6
-Fasting a full 24hrs once every other week (or as needed)
Additional tools I've used in tandem with the book:
-Free online Resting Metabolic Rate Calculator (to figure how many calories I burn everyday with no exertion and my caloric deficit is everyday)
-Glucose/Ketone meter: By Keto Mojo ($45)
-MyFitnesspal App for food tracking (FREE)

Track your weight using a scale (and log it via MyFitnesspal)
BUY the Blood/Glucose Meter because it is PROOF that your diet is working and it will help you weed out the foods that maybe "Keto Friendly" but is detrimental to YOU specifically.
LOG EVERYTHING at least for the first 4-6 weeks. It's a real lesson in what foods are heavy in calories (some WILL surprise you)
-YES I have fallen pray to the munchies and got "Snacky" a few times but you'll quickly learn that it's easy with a good fast to get right back on track within a day or 2.
Good luck! it's possible even fun once you get some traction with this plan!

If you’ve read the original 5:2, skip this one.
If you’ve read the original 5:2, skip this one and save your money. It basically saying the exact same thing except eat 800 calories instead of 500 on your “fast” days. I feel like this was just another money grab book. However if you have not read the original then this book will probably be informative.

Bad
This triggered my eating disorder. I have never had it this bad. Had to go to a treatment center bc of how bad it got. It’s wrong that there is an actual doctor out there telling people to restrict like this. I wish I could go back in time to that chubby girl who so desperately clung to these words in hopes of achieving a standard of perfection for her body that is so grossly and unjustly determined by society. I wish I could tell her that she didn’t have to look for high density low calorie meals. That skipping all your meals wouldn’t lead to happiness and peace. Because that’s all we really want when we look to literature like this. We think losing weight will somehow gain us the love and respect we so desperately desire in our lives. The reality is that no one’s body determines their worth. Getting skinny has not made me happier. And I have lost myself further in the process of following stupid guides like this. I’m still struggling with accepting I have an eating disorder. I’m still struggling to unravel the damage this book has done. When I spend 4 hours in the gym and eat a tiny meal, I think back to the concept of starvation being a good thing which was introduced to me here. Avoid this book. If you choose to read it, do so only to understand the pitfalls of phony diet advice. This is not the way to good health.
