Resumen del Editor

Clean(ish) leads listeners to a focus on real foods and a healthier home environment free of obvious toxins, without fixating on perfection. By living clean(ish), our bodies’ natural processes become streamlined and more effective, while we enjoy a vibrant life.

In Gin Stephens' New York Times best seller Fast. Feast. Repeat., she showed you how to fast (completely) clean as part of an intermittent fasting lifestyle. Now, whether you’re an intermittent faster or not, Gin shows you how to become clean(ish) where it counts: You’ll learn how to shift your choices so you’re not burdening your body with a bucket of chemicals, additives, and obesogens it wasn’t designed to handle.

Instead of aiming for perfection (which is impossible) or changing everything at once (which is hard, and rarely leads to lasting results), you’ll cut through the confusion, lose the fear, and embrace the freedom that comes from becoming clean(ish). As you learn how to lower your toxic load through small changes, smart swaps, and simple solutions, you’ll evolve simply and naturally toward a clean(ish) lifestyle that works for your body and your life!

Great Audio Book

Great book, love Gin. She is very easy to follow and understand. Pretty bummed because she kept talking about using the PDF that accompanied this audio book, but I can't seem to find it 😔

She’s done it again!

Gin has presented a wonderful clearly laid out plan to clean up your life (and your body). Thank you for using your teacher skills to teach people how to become Cleanish! Fabulous job, Gin Stephens! I love that your program does not require perfection and it is innately able to be a
process that meets people where they are and move forward from there. It’s very doable!

Not what I expected.

After reading the previous books, I expected this to follow the same path on intermittent fasting but it did not. It was mostly filled with chapters all the scary toxins everywhere with the only real solution as a brief introduction to intermittent fasting & legislation.

Good (ish)

The book is alright, not great. I like the emphasis on not striving for perfection. The book’s message of reducing our exposure to certain chemicals in our food, personal care products and cleaning supplies is certainly worth reading. What’s lacking is an explanation on why certain chemicals are bad and what they do to our bodies. She talks a lot about “bad” chemicals and I kept listening and waiting for the chapter on what these chemicals do that makes them so bad. I guess I’ll have to find that chapter in a book written by a scientist, not a science(ish). At times the book felt very much like listening to someone read a list of references. Not fun. The chapter on getting family on board was very preachy. I very much doubt that children happily ate scorpion tails because that was all that was available. There is no way she can positively state that picky eaters didn’t exist prior to modern times. Children don’t always understand hunger cues, so when given the choice between eating something he/she doesn’t like or going hungry, they will often choose to go hungry. I do think there are ways to feed a picky child healthy food, but to blame parents for creating the problem is just plain wrong.
Finally, the author lost all credibility when she recommended “earthing”, the entirely unproven practice of walking barefoot to “ground” oneself, like you would “ground” a toaster oven or hair dryer.
Overall, I would recommend reading portions of the book, but not cover to cover.
