Complex, classy crime

One of the best writers in this genre ... And nobody does it better

The thing about Lee Child's books is that you can't put the damn things down... there's something about his writing that's addictive. The Enemy is no exception...Superb

Lee Child fans will love this prequel to the bestselling Jack Reacher novels. At last Child shares the events that shaped the maverick hero of his last six novels into an ass-kicking, irreverent good guy. If you're one of the few people who haven't sampled the sublime thrill of a Child novel, this blast from the past is the best place to start

And it reads like a murder mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed it and Jeff Harding is a great narrator.

The unpredictability

Loved the narrator- kinda hard-edged and vaguely nasal, just like I imagine Reacher to be.

Slow off the mark

This wasn’t the best Reacher novel I’ve read, but it still had some surprising turns and the usual gripping lengthy situation that compels your attention. The payoff in the latter situation is satisfying, as usual.

A good read

A long, good value, crime solving story. I was hesitant about reading on of Child’s in first person, but it turned out to be one of his better ones.
