how many ways and times do you need to go over options. alright already.

Uh oh...

I have all of the Jack Reacher series. I gave most of them a 5 star rating. I was so looking forward to a new adventure with Jack but I found that in this one that there was so much repetition in the beginning that I became bored with the story.

I hope that the next Jack Reacher novel can pick up the pace...

Heartland heartbreak

Make Me is Lee Child's 20th full length installment. This time out, Jack is riding the rails and disembarks in the middle of nowhere to learn the origin of the place's name, Mother's Rest. What he finds is a missing investigator and then teams up with the partner to solve that mystery. With the help of a reporter and an underground hacker, Jack must deal with hitmen for hire while unraveling the secret behind pastoral setting.

Jack deductive reasoning skills, his physical prowess, and his marksmanship skills are on display. While the ultimate hidden secret would not be so mysterious to anyone familiar to the internet, it's still refreshing to watch Jack sort it all out and piece together the disparate clues. Most importantly, Jack does finally learn the origin story for the town.

Dick Hill as usual offers a superb narration with the perfect Reacher rendition and a solid range of other characters of both genders.

WWRD (What Would Reacher Do)

From beginning to end, this is one of the best Reacher novels I have listened to. And...I have listened to them all in order. As our hero steps off a train to check out a small town called "Mother's Rest" just out of curiosity for the unusual name, Reacher finds himself once again wrapped up in murder, intrigue, and a short term romance to boot. Classic Reacher all the way. Lee Child is on the mark with this exploration of the internet which for the time of the release of the novel seems eerily ahead of its time. Great stuff from start to finish. Don't miss this one. Jack Reacher at his best. As for Dick Hill's delivery...just superb.

Jack Reacher story bias..

When it comes to Lee Child and Jack Reacher they are all good some are just better than others. I liked this story but not as much as I liked "The Persuader". Sorry to be so vague you either are a fan or not. For me I will always recommend Jack Reacher books.

Horrible narration

Narration almost made it unlistenable. Love Lee Child but the narrator ruined it. Made the female sound stupid, like every statement was a question. Made Jack Reacher - a character I love - sound like a lackadaisical hack. Will avoid all titles read by this Bill Schatner wanna be.

good read, but not as much Jack Reacher action... a little hard to follow. still kept my attention.

Jack reacher audibles are superior.

Love this particular narrator. His voice is great to understand, excellent to listen to. I know their are others, he's just my favorite.
Just my opinion.

Ok but bizarre story.

Good character development and story line. Concept a bit on the gory side. Good listen though!

Weaker Reacher

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I recently listened to Michael Connelly's Trunk Music, which was narrated by Dick Hill. One of the reasons I was eager to listen to Make Me was that it was also done by Dick Hill. Well . . . it's hard to tell it's the same guy. Terrific narration in Trunk Music and UNBELIEVABLY BAD narration in this one. I'm not exactly sure what kind of accent Hill was aiming for in this case for Jack Reacher (maybe Jack Reacher as 1930's mobster?), but it is distinctly odd and pretty terrible.

The plotting is also slow (plodding plotting?) for a Reacher book. Definitely not my favorite.
