I'm so appreciative I had the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. It's not only well written, but the honesty and vulnerability was showcased in this book. You can honestly feel the author's experience and knowledge shared in this book. It covers the patient's situation but also the caregiver's emotions and what he/she goes through during these times. Every example and scenario is covered. As a caretaker, whether you're feeling overwhelmed or preparing yourself for the future, this is a good book to re-read/ re-listen. Such a good book to keep and cherish.

My father suffered from Alzheimer's and I did not know how to handle it well. He has passed away since and I wish I had this book to read during that time. The author has done a wonderful job of educating the public about dementia and how to properly handle it. Understanding the disease and how it affects the brain is the first step. You will learn how to handle aggressive dementia patients and their possible depression without getting burnout. You have to also take care of yourself. I highly recommend this book.

This is a book that, although I could have used to help with my wife's Parkinson's battle, I am now involved with a 95-year-old father with dementia. While he is now in the hospital after a recent fall, this book has helped me understand a lot more about the disease and about my reactions to it. It gives me options to consider and explains the many situations that my brother and I are scrambling to understand and deal with. There are no easy answers, but this book can help you better deal with a challenging situation and not be consumed by it. I highly recommend it.

Great Information I Need Right Now!
