According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer’s disease. That’s one in eight older Americans. Revealing that AD is not one condition, as it is currently treated, but three, The End of Alzheimer's outlines 36 metabolic factors (micronutrients, hormone levels, sleep) that can trigger "downsizing" in the brain. The protocol shows us how to rebalance these factors using lifestyle modifications like taking B12, eliminating gluten, or improving oral hygiene.

At first, Ken Abraham wrote off his mother’s changes in behavior as quirks that just come with old age. There was memory loss, physical decline, hygiene issues, paranoia, and uncharacteristic attitudes. He soon realized that dementia had changed her life - and his family’s - forever. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer’s disease. That’s one in eight older Americans. Good step by step guide
This book assumes a loving and caring relationship is in place between the caregiver and patient (usually adult child and parent). It is not ideal if you have less than perfect relationship and the caregiver’s role is more obligatory. The narration was great. Soothing. Appreciate the self care focus. But thought there was too much of it.

Peaceful narration of wonderfully helpful book
The title says it all. I have just begun my own journey with my mother, moving her across the country to be with my family. She is already beginning Stage 5 and it was hidden by an emotionally abusive recent husband. Besides the guilt, I am also shell shocked daily by all that she needs, we need, and I need. 10 days into caring for her 24/7, I desperately bought this audiobook. It’s the salve I needed. I’m going to buy the paper copy as well. Get this book, you’ll be glad you did.

Great overview of all the stages of care
This book was very helpful in its presentations of scenarios and descriptions of how the caregivers handled their situations with loved ones who had Alz. I think this technique was very effective in helping the reader understand what tactics can be used when caring for their loved one, as well as relate to the emotions felt while going through this experience.
This book did a good job walking the reader through each stage of Alz and knowing what to expect and in describing what strategies can be used to care for the loved one, the importance of self-care, how to handle difficult or problematic situations, what to ask medical staff at each stage, etc. It spoke to the reader gently, while also keeping it real.
