A brother’s best friend, enemies-to-lovers, hockey romance by Amazon Top 50 and USA Today bestselling author, S.J. Sylvis.
I never would have moved to Chicago, if I had known he would be there.
Moving to a brand new city to share an apartment with my older brother was bad enough.
Becoming neighbors with Kane Barlow, my brother’s arrogant pro-hockey-playing best friend, was just the cherry on top of the dumpster fire my life has become.
Did I mention that Kane is also the guy I had a secret fling with years ago?
I haven't seen him since and let’s just say his icy glares and frigid demeanor are reason enough for me to get my own place.
Little does he know, I’m in Chicago for a reason that has nothing to do with him. So what if his snide remarks and attempts to get under my skin are wildly entertaining? I came here for stability – not distractions, and definitely not the kind with infuriating smirks.
But the more we clash, the more the tension between us shifts. His icy glares turn into heated glances, and our aversion to being around each other quickly morphs into secret trysts and spicy moments we swore we didn't want.
The line between love and hate is razor-thin – and this time, we’re both rushing towards the edge.

My only “complaint” which isn’t a deal breaker for me is the climax where everything goes to hell before it gets resolved. Hers are always right around the end of the book so the “happily ever after” is only like 5-10 minutes long. I don’t love that because it makes you feel cheated out of some of the story after they resolve their problems. Again that’s a personal preference type of thing and it wasn’t so bad that it ruined anything for me! I highly recommend this author and these books!
This whole series is worth listening too

Kane Barlow thinks life is heading up now that his roommate has helped with the rent payments and hopefully his past is done making his current life a mess. That is until his best friend River moves his sister Daisy into their building. Daisy is moving in with River so she can reset and get the top medical attention she needs for her lupus.
Kane doesn’t know any of this. He just knows that their past lives are about to explode into their current lives. Kane is quite the possessive fella even though he knows he cannot have Daisy again. But try as he may, he cannot keep Daisy out of his thoughts and dreams. Also, Daisy is now the skating mascot for Kane’s hockey team.
Things accelerate when Daisy suffers a bad flare up of her lupus and Kane must jump in to take care of her. One time turns into all the time and they must keep hiding from her brother.
When it all comes to a head, Kane and Daisy realize that they are meant to be together no matter what anyone else says.
This story does a great job of portraying the push and pull between Kane and Daisy as well as showing how Daisy tries to navigate her autoimmune disorder. I really loved all the aspects of this story including the healing that Kane and his mom & brother try to have.
The narrators did a great job of bringing this story to life!!

Wowwww! This was so good—and the narration was phenomenal. The voices brought the characters to life perfectly and added so much emotion to the story.
He left for 6 years to chase his NHL dream, and she stayed behind, moving in with her brother. But things aren’t what they seem: he’s hiding his truths, and she’s hiding her health. When they finally reconnect, the sparks are electric. Their chemistry is impossible to ignore, even as they try to keep things hidden.
I loved the push-and-pull of their secret relationship, the jealousy games, and the intensity between them. And when everything finally comes out? 🔥🔥🔥 It was so worth the build-up.
Such a captivating romance, with all the tension, heart, and heat I wanted. Highly recommend the audiobook!
