Aleksandr Ivanov was my person.

There is no happy ending for us. I've got a company to run and a contract to start filming a television show in Los Angeles. He can't leave New York, and staying with Aleksandr would mean giving up everything I've worked so hard for.

Most importantly, I can't put my very fragile heart right back into the hands of the one person who already destroyed it.

If you don't like childhood loves, second chances, strong female main characters, hot hockey players, surprise marriages, precocious little girls who worm their way into cold, unfeeling hearts, ice cream for dinner, and television shows about inspirational women, then look the other way. But if you love all that and a happy ending, you'll want to listen to One Last Shot!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 These narrators, Kingsley Rose & Aiden Snow, have the most scrumptiously husky voices—having them perform this story for me was such delicious a treat! They use so much energy and expression as they bring the story to life!
🤩 Teenage best friends to unrequited love to surprise arranged marriage (and finding out 14 years later). And, oh, there’s more. 😮
🤩 Such a great childhood friends plus unrequited love plot! With some twisty additions.
🤩 LOL hilarious moments in all the heavy feels because Stella (Sasha’s/Aaleks’ orphaned niece) is a fabulous character.
🤩 So! Much! Secret! Pining! But also, so much fabulous banter!
🤩 Sasha/Aleksandr and Petra are so electric and hotttttt! The writing is deliciously detailed!
🤩 “What is feminism if it’s not unapologetically going after what you want?”
🤩 Chapter 22 has me in tears, such good emotion.
🤩 I fall completely in love with Sasha/Aleksandr when he makes a surprise trip to LA.

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 I get hormones and crazy attraction, but I thought Petra would make Sasha work for it a little more. I wanted to feel the angst of her making him beg or grovel.
💫 It takes a bit too long for Sasha/Aleksandr to be fully honest about their youth; however, I love the ending so much—it totally makes up for the annoying wait.

I really enjoyed this story, there was a lot to uncover from their past and what was going on in the present. Petra was such a fun badass character and it was such a journey to see her change from the hurt woman who used sex & men as an escape to a woman in love who deeply cared for a man and a little girl

I loved this listen and really enjoyed how Kingsley Rose played the fiesty Petra!

One Last Shot by Julia Connors was everything I hoped it would be—and more. And the narration by Aiden Snow and Kingsley Rose? Absolute perfection. They brought Aleksandr and Petra to life in such a vivid and authentic way that I didn’t want to stop listening. In fact, I didn’t. I finished this book in a day.

Petra has always intrigued me throughout the series—this strong, independent, boss woman with an untold past. One Last Shot finally gives us her story, and I couldn’t have loved it more. She's fierce, driven, especially as we watch her navigate the reappearance of Aleksandr.

And Aleksandr? A hot hockey player with a heart of gold. His unwavering support for Petra and her dreams was everything. He never tried to change her or make her choose—he just stood by her, loved her, and let her lead the way.

One Last Shot is a must-listen. Julia Connors continues to knock it out of the park, and this one just might be my favorite yet of the Frozen Hearts Series.

HEA after lies of omission

I liked both the main characters at first. As the story progressed and history was revealed, I struggled to understand why so much was kept secret for so long. And why the MMC continued to lie about the past.
