Acerca de esta escucha
From two leaders in executive education at Harvard Business School, here are the mental habits and proven strategies you need to achieve outstanding results in any negotiation.
Whether you've "seen it all" or are just starting out, Negotiation Genius will dramatically improve your negotiating skills and confidence. Drawing on decades of behavioral research plus the experience of thousands of business clients, the authors take the mystery out of preparing for and executing negotiations - whether they involve multimillion-dollar deals or improving your next salary offer.
What sets negotiation geniuses apart? They are the men and women who know how to:
- Identify negotiation opportunities where others see no room for discussion
- Discover the truth even when the other side wants to conceal it
- Negotiate successfully from a position of weakness
- Defuse threats, ultimatums, lies, and other hardball tactics
- Overcome resistance and "sell" proposals using proven influence tactics
- Negotiate ethically and create trusting relationships - along with great deals
- Recognize when the best move is to walk away
- And much, much more
This audiobook gets "down and dirty". It gives you detailed strategies - including talking points - that work in the real world even when the other side is hostile, unethical, or more powerful. When you finish it, you will already have an action plan for your next negotiation. You will know what to do and why. You will also begin building your own reputation as a negotiation genius.

For years now, win-win has been the paradigm for business negotiation. But today, win-win is just the seductive mantra used by the toughest negotiators to get the other side to compromise unnecessarily, early, and often. Win-win negotiations play to your emotions and take advantage of your instinct and desire to make the deal. Start with No introduces a system of decision-based negotiation that teaches you how to understand and control these emotions.

Persuasion influences people to make decisions about what they buy, where they live, who they vote for, and who they love. Persuasion can change our views, change our acts, change our personality, and change our world.

Game theory means rigorous strategic thinking. It’s the art of anticipating your opponent’s next moves, knowing full well that your rival is trying to do the same thing to you. Though parts of game theory involve simple common sense, much is counterintuitive, and it can only be mastered by developing a new way of seeing the world. Using a diverse array of rich case studies - from pop culture, TV, movies, sports, politics, and history - the authors show how nearly every business and personal interaction has a game-theory component to it.

The forces of persuasion are all around us. What you might often consider a free choice is quite often the result of persuasion from one or any number of forces. Persuasion influences people to make decisions about what they buy, where they live, who they vote for, and who they love. Persuasion can change our views, change our acts, change our personality, and change our world.

Negotiations are incredibly stressful and can bring out the worst in people. Wouldn’t it be better if there were a principled way to negotiate? Wouldn’t it be even better if there were a way to treat people fairly and get treated fairly in a negotiation? Split the Pie offers a new approach that does both—a field-tested method that reframes how negotiations play out. Barry Nalebuff, a professor at Yale School of Management, helps identify what’s really at stake in a negotiation: the “pie.” The negotiation pie is the additional value created through an agreement to work together.

I was a little over my head
I don't think my lack of understanding should punish the content of the book, there are some high-level stuff in here. I purchased the book with the intent of learning day-to-day or general life negotiation strategy, end it does provide a lot of that! There are a lot of company executive tactics for large company interactions that were over my head a little bit. Otherwise fantastic book, learned a lot.

A must read for any negotiator.
The level of detail is so dense that you may need to read it twice. I'm currently looking for workbooks on the strategies from the book.
Overall an awesome read. You will be a better negotiator a few chapters in.
