Resumen del Editor

A spicy, sassy, and swoony fake dating romantic comedy from Amazon Charts bestselling author Jennifer Millikin.

A week on an island sounds like the stuff of beach dreams, but for Paisley Royce, it's a nightmare. Her little sister is marrying her ex-college sweetheart, and Paisley is serving as maid of honor. To add insult to injury, nobody will let Paisley forget she's single.

Bachelorette weekend changes everything when she runs into her old college frenemy, Klein Madigan.

Klein is still intelligent and funny, and somehow time has only made him more attractive.

Paisley is Klein's one that got away, not that he'd ever admit it to her. A colossal misstep (and one terrible kiss) in college sealed their fate.

Or so they thought.

Klein's an aspiring author allergic to social media. Paisley owns a digital marketing agency.

A brilliant plan is hatched: A trip across the country for a week of faking out her family in exchange for her firm marketing his work.

One hastily scrawled and signed contract on a bar napkin later, Paisley and Klein embark on a journey of tension, only one bed, and fake dating shenanigans.

Paisleys goal is to survive the week.

Klein's plan is to enjoy the sun, sand, and wedding cake.

But then there's a scorching kiss to make up for that bad one in college.

And another kiss in a lighthouse during a thunderstorm. A gentle palm on Paisleys lower back, and a reassuring hand squeeze under the table.

Everyone is convinced Klein and Paisley are the real deal, but as the week wears on, they begin to wonder if the only people they're kidding are themselves.

A Unique and Fun Beach Romance!

Paisley isn’t having the best day. She just checked her mail and got the invitation she was dreading receiving - the one asking her to be maid of honor for her sister’s wedding… to her EX. There’s no backing out of this one. Unfortunately. Things just keep getting better when she runs into her former college frenemy/drunken make out mistake, Klein, at the bachelorette party. 🤦🏼‍♀️

A few more unfortunate mishaps lead to Paisley and Klein hatching a fake dating scheme in exchange for Paisley’s marketing firm helping to promote Klein’s book. Truly, what could go wrong with this plan??

Klein and Paisley really were a perfect match for one another in this book! Klein gave me such Dan Humphrey vibes with his quick wit, funny one liners, and absolutely poetic way of viewing things around him, ESPECIALLY Paisley. 🥰 Paisley was such an endearing and relatable FMC. She struggled with family pressure and judgements, was a habitual people pleaser, and really just wanted to be happy while protecting her heart. And the narrators really did a perfect job of bringing these characters (and many meddling side characters) to life.

This book was so so well done - full of character growth, family drama and life lessons, and a fake relationship developing into so much more as the week goes on. I absolutely adored this story (yay for no third act break up) and cannot wait to continue enjoying Jenn’s books!

I love fake dating!!

It’s no secret that I love fake dating so naturally I loved this book. 😂

Klein is the best fake boyfriend(turned real)! He is going down as one of my top book boyfriends of all time. I seriously adore him! 😍

Sweet Paisley deserves the world and more. There were so many times in this book I wanted to reach in and give her a big hug.

About the narration:

This book is narrated by Aaron Donahue as Klein and Hannah Chiclana as Paisley. Aaron is a new to me narrator and I thought he was the perfect Klein “Paisley Baby.” SWOON! This is the second book I’ve read narrated by Hannah and just like the first she did such a good job! She brought Paisley to life🥹

Paisley and Klein are so perfect! This book is available today so go grab it! 😍

Thank you VPR and Jennifer for the ALC

An amazing listen - full of fun, laughter and love

This is my first read/listen by Jennifer Millikin and I absolutely loved this story. I could not stop listening!! It’s funny, sweet, spicy and full of amazing tension. Paisley has been given an impossible job thanks to her thoughtless sister and rude family members. But she’s determined to make the best of it while having a little fun along the way. She is kind, sweet, sassy and determined to make it through the wedding. Klein is a delight…he’s kind, caring and funny. Once he gets his mind set on something he goes for it…including Paisley. Love how their relationship blossoms and they bring out the best in one another. The banter, overall dialogue and the spice!! Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue delivered an amazing performance. They gave the characters perfect personality, voice and emotion. They had me laughing out loud many times with their amazing delivery. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to more books from Jennifer.

second chance swoon

When "the one that got away" meets fake dating and includes the one bed trope? I am immediately in! I marathon listened to this book because I just couldn't press pause!!

Paisley and Klein had a connection in college that ended with an awful kiss and some hurt feelings. Paisley quickly begins a with someone else and Klein ends up pining for her. Fast-forward to a chance reconnection during her sister's bachelorette party...oh and did I mention that Paisley's ex is the groom?...needless to say Paisley needs a date for the wedding festivities and she finds the perfect solution in Klein.

This gorgeous read is also hilarious! Like when her sister mistakes Klein for the *ahem* entertainment at her bachelorette party. I just LOVE when there is an angsty fake relationship, add in some quirky side characters and a one bed trope and it is a perfect recipe for me! I absolutely recommend this book!

Fun story

Here for the Cake is a fake dating, romantic comedy.

Klein and Paisley’s story was a light, fun read. The chemistry between these two could be felt through the pages. The family drama felt relatable, and all the shenanigans were entertaining. The right amount of drama, laughs and sweet moments made this a great book.

Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue did a great job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Fantastic book!

4.5/5⭐️
2/5🌶️
5/5 🎧

This book was just the cutest! I loved the whole fake dating/wedding date vibe it had. Paisley is the maid of honor at her sisters wedding who is marrying Paisleys ex and she ends up taking Klein as her date for a week long trip full of festivities.

Klein has had some unrequited feelings ever since the thing that happened years ago and Paisley has hated him ever since that thing. The communication in this book was fantastic. I loved how supportive Klein was with Paisley and how he helped her get out of her shell and be her true self while cheering her on from the sidelines. I loved their dynamic and when the relationship went from fake to not was perfect!

The sister was super narcissistic and the OM drama was a little annoying at times, that’s why it got 4.5 stars, but otherwise I loved how sweet and intimate the story was and Kleins dirty mouth was fantastic 😉😏

The audio was done really well. I really liked both the narrators for this story. Hannah and Aaron did a wonderful job bringing the story to life!

Perfection!

What to Expect:
- Enemies to Friends to Lovers
- Fake Dating
- Close Proximity
- Second Chance
- Only One Bed
- He Falls First
- Witty Banter
- No Third Act Breakup

Paisley's sister is getting married and asks Paisley to serve as her maid of honor. Her sister is marrying Paisley's ex-boyfriend, so Paisley doesn't want to deal with the wedding alone. Enter Klein. Paisley and Klein were in a writing course together in college. Klein was interested in Paisley, and they shared one drunken kiss. However, after harshly critiquing one of her writing assignments for the class, Klein's dream of being in Paisley's life was crushed. The embarrassment and hurt she experienced lingered, so Paisley was less than thrilled to see him when they reconnected eight years later. They talk and realize they each have something to offer the other. Klein needs help marketing his books, and Paisley needs a date for the wedding. After signing a contract on a napkin, their mutually beneficial agreement is set in motion.

Here for the Cake is such a cute story! I had a smile on my face the entire time. I love the fake dating trope, and it was executed perfectly. Klein and Paisley are perfect for each other. They have amazing chemistry, and the banter was really fun. Paisley's situation is certainly less than ideal. I can't imagine being asked to be a part of your sister and ex-boyfriend's wedding. Poor thing just wanted to survive the week. I love the growth Paisley experienced throughout the story. She was a people pleaser who allowed her family to walk all over her. They always expected her to say 'yes' to anything they asked. With Klein's support, Paisley was able to finally start standing up for herself. Klein is the perfect golden retriever guy. He is sweet, witty, attentive, supportive, charming, and overall swoon-worthy. Paisley is the one who got away, and Klein is all in with her.

This was such a great read! Here for the Cake had everything I needed - well-developed main characters, interesting side characters, lots of laughs, tension, romance, and spice. Also, the dyslexia representation is spot on! This book is highly recommended for those looking for a fun and adorable story that will have you smiling from ear to ear.

NARRATION:
Hannah Chiclana and Aaron Donahue narrated this story. They both did an amazing job. The story is amazing, but Hannah and Aaron's performances made it even more enjoyable. They really brought the characters to life. Hannah and Aaron gave the characters the perfect personalities and made me feel all of the emotions this story evoked.
