A heartfelt and witty small-town romance about a woman rebuilding her life after betrayal, finding unexpected love with a charming firefighter, and learning to trust again, blending the charm of Emily Henry’s Book Lovers with the emotional depth of Abby Jimenez’s The Friend Zone.

When twenty-five-year-old Sutton Miller catches her best friend in a compromising position with her father, she does the only sensible thing: packs her car, drives north, and starts over in a town where no one knows her name. Amity, Washington, seems perfect—a place where she can lick her wounds while building a new life as a dog groomer, accompanied only by Jerry Lee, the shop’s potty-mouthed parrot with impeccable comic timing.

Enter Jameson Turner, the thirty-six-year-old firefighter next door whose boy-next-door charm and dimpled smile are as dangerous as the fires he fights. After rescuing Sutton from a locked car incident (and her dignity from Jerry Lee’s colorful commentary), Jameson is smitten. But while he’s busy trying to win her heart between emergency calls and helping at his family’s struggling ranch, Sutton’s busy building walls higher than the Cascade Mountains.

As Jameson’s mother’s illness forces him to confront family obligations and Sutton grapples with her trust issues, their attraction becomes harder to ignore. But for a woman whose closest relationships have gone up in flames, letting her guard down might be the scariest thing of all—even if Jameson proves to be more of a cinnamon roll than a player.

For fans of Elsie Silver and Laura Pavlov, this small-town, slow-burn romance delights with heartfelt themes of trust, healing, and the unexpected joy of finding a home where you least expect it.

I’m SO happy for Madi to be in her small town era as I devoured this book on audio yesterday!! This cozy, heartfelt romance takes you on a journey of healing, love and emotion while capturing you right into this fun small town of Amity, Washington! It’s the first book in the Amity series and I cannot wait for more!!!!

In this small town romance, Jameson is a firefighter who gets the news of his mom’s cancer and decides to move back home to help her and his parent’s ranch. Meanwhile, Sutton left her life behind in LA and came to Amity by coming across a job opening for a dog groomer. Turns out that her new place of work is right across from the fire station...

I adored Jameson & Sutton! First, their jobs were incredible and I loved the uniqueness of Sutton as a dog groomer. The development of their relationship just felt so authentic and real while their palpable chemistry shined through in the audio during every interaction. Sutton’s walls may be up with no desire for a relationship but Jameson falls hard fast. I even loved the lengths Jameson was already willing to go to, in order to see her more! Their story had me laughing at hilarious interactions especially with Jerry Lee, swooning over Jameson, smiling at all the cute dogs and animals, crying about his mom’s cancer and of course melting at all the scorching hot spice (which Madi always delivers on!)!!

AUDIO REVIEW: Troy Duran & Shaina Summerville gave an outstanding performance in this dual narration!! Their voices transport you right into this small town of Amity while they bring this story to life with all the passion and emotion in their voices! Troy’s deep tone was perfect for this firefighter and cowboy while capturing his lovable and patient personality. Meanwhile, Shaina’s warm yet lively tone showcased the growth of Sutton’s character perfectly while she also bringing out her kindness and love of animals! Together, these two immerse you right into this small town romance, making it such an easy listen… with some tears too

Ugh! Yet another female narrator that sounds like she’s constipated. Every sentence spoken with unnecessary angst. She has an irritating way of narrating the male parts that sounds like she’s running out of oxygen. I stuck it out through her parts because the male narrator is so strong and I really enjoyed the story. Wish the authors would be more choosy when they hire the narrators.

Bad Female Performance
