Andy "Duke" Ellington was an exceptional fighter pilot with a habit of biting off more than he should have been able to chew. Yet, somehow, he always came through it - whether that was luck or skill was an open debate. This was his life as political tensions rose and boiled over into military action. At least it was until it wasn't. He pushed too hard and too far and the end came for him.

And then...he was Elsewhere, in a completely different world with no support and only a marginal clue. Things like magic and stats were his new reality and he had no choice but to learn how to adapt. But he was "Duke" or "The Duke" as many called him. He lived his life on the edge and he would do no different in this world.

Imprisoned Archmages, corrupt rulers, mysterious forces from beyond, and ancient dungeons all wanted a piece of him. He was happy to take them all on. He would show everyone just who he was and what happened if you messed with "The Duke".

Great narration with different character voices, main character was overpowered and didn't have enough real threats and struggle presented.

Great narration

The MC generally acts like an old man trying to be a teenage boy, with terrible dad jokes (and I’m a firm supporter of the art of dad jokes) mixed with socially awkward cockiness to extremes that everyone around him just laughs off like it’s reasonable. He is also gifted wayyyyy OP starting abilities. Narration does the job decently, but is not great, emphasizing the annoyingness of both the MC and the system messages. The plot is very uninteresting, with the MC pinballing between unconnected quests focusing mainly on just fighting stuff. To be fair, though, I stopped about a quarter way through the book so maybe it gets better later.

Annoying MC, mediocre narration

The overall story is very entertaining, and each of the main characters found a place in my heart. I loved watching (listening) to Duke's progression throughout the whole book.
I am very excited to see where to author takes the story in the next installment.

Keep up the good work!

As a fighter pilot, Duke was used to pushing the limits. Sadly, he pushed too hard and found himself facing certain death. That’s when he suddenly ended up in a new world, complete with magic and monsters. He is given a few abilities and fully intends to make the absolute most of them in his new life.

It’s always great to start up a new Isekai litrpg and see how things start. This one decides to go the OP route! It doesn’t take too long to see that Duke is a wrecking machine. The side characters are no slouches either. This was a great read and I’m looking forward to the next one! James Cheatham does a great job narrating as always!

This was a great story. The Mc is learning his new abilities and finds a purpose pretty soon into the book, giving the reader something to anticipate for. I enjoyed this one, and if there wasn’t language would listen to it with the kids.

Items of note: I prefer no foul language in my books. However this author kept it situational, and it wasn’t overly used.

Wonderful story
