Hang in there! 2nd half of book is good!

Good narration. The 1st half of the book is frustrating because the annoying FMC irrational arguing and story is sloooow to start. Good spice and story does evolve and you get invested.

It was okay

The story itself is interesting but I’m not really a fan of the way it was written, it was kind of repetitive at times.

Wish the next book was out! Will have to read the book and also listen to the narration when it does come!

Interesting type of magic. The story is new and exciting. I think the second will be better than the first. Great book. I wanted more spice but there was some 🌶️.

Loved this book.

I’m an avid romantasy reader and so thoroughly enjoyed this book. The banter and wit won me over from the beginning. The character development is wonderful. The world building is pretty good. Spice is pretty darn good. I was super annoyed with the performance at the beginning but fell in love with Summer Robert’s by the end.

Sooooo good!

I devoured this book. I can not wait for the next. I hope they continue to release these as the series continues.

A fantastic romance

I really enjoyed reading this FANTASTIC ROMANCE. The pace of reading was medium to fast and the growth of the characters was well done.

Very slow, I don’t know if I want to get the second book. The mmc was good and I like their chemistry a lot but I think the fmc was a little whiny and her internal dialogue really grated on my nerves after awhile. I liked the narrator but maybe not for this character. I don’t think the voice fits the characters personality very well.

Strength of emmalyn; new type of magic; funny; mixed genetics; mountain with personality

Like story and characters.. sun characters strong.. interesting magic.. very slow beginning but narrator was smooth and it was worth waiting.. the slowness was possibly the amount of description in the beginning. Great love and spicey scenes good balance of strength and guardianship

Fantasy Romance

This was a solid 5 Star read for me and I’m kicking myself that I waited so long to start this series! Lisette Marshall is amazing with her descriptive language. Her words created a wonderfully detailed and illustrated movie in my mind as I read along and listened on audio. I really enjoyed the fresh take on the magic system with the use of colors and physical elements, and the symbolism of those colors. The plot of the entire story was exciting and engaging, especially as it picked up, and the romance consumed me.

A slow burn and swoon worthy relationship blossoms, one complete with all of the marvelously sarcastic and witty banter that I could hope for (I might have a type). We see several tropes that I love in Court of Blood and Bindings, forced proximity, fake dating, and enemies to lovers to name a few. I really appreciated the internal conflict Emelin experiences regarding her feelings for the love interest. It played well into the plot of the story and also brought a realist component to the romance that enhanced my connection towards both the characters and their relationship.

There were times in the very beginning of the book that I grew impatient with the MFC’s (Emelin) inner monologue. I was hungry for dialogue and interaction in those first few chapter. I can assure you though that the dialogue and interactions that take place between Emelin and the love interest are completely worth the wait and strengthen the story in my opinion. I think the author brought a new and inclusive experience to her readers by writing a character who is unable to verbally communicate. An experience that I did very much enjoy and appreciate after wrangling in my own initial impatience. I highly recommend this to lovers of ACOTAR specifically, and fantasy romance/ romance readers in general!
