A.A. Dark
Everleigh Harper does everything in her power to stop a human trafficking operation—despite being trapped in a hellish dystopian prison—in the riveting final installment of the bestselling, Goodreads Choice Award-nominated 24690 series.
For the briefest moment, revenge was sweet. My husband was suffering before my very eyes, and Bram…he was alive. But my happiness didn’t last...
The man who claimed he wasn’t my savior held true to his word. Bram didn’t rush in and save me from the cruel fate of the White Room. No one did. Now I’m tortured with red light massacres and a hell I could have never imagined. Surviving will take everything I have, but I’m determined to get answers from the man who turned his back on me.
And just when I think it can’t get any worse…it does. Slave 24690 is all but gone. The evil woman reborn is what nightmares are made of. Insanity beckons, but even my madness won’t derail the plans I’ve set in motion.
Masters will fall. Conspiracies will reign. But will I be strong enough to let go of the one thing that could ultimately destroy me? And will it be worth the cost?

I discovered the 24690 books just before the third audiobook dropped and devoured them all back to back. I literally counted the days for this release!
Going into this final act I expected a high stakes, master plan ending. Something like Everleigh and Bram outsmarting Whitlock, getting innocents clear, then blowing the place sky high. Instead, they were on the brink of dying themselves and someone else swooped in to end it. The result was still brutal, but it felt a bit anticlimactic.
But despite that, seeing Bram and Everleigh finally end up together, after everything they endured, was deeply satisfying. This series shattered my heart more than once, and watching them claw their way out of the darkness was cathartic.
Everleigh surprised me. Normally, I have little patience for most dark romance FMCs but I ended up loving her. She bore her trauma with grit, and Calamity Jane captured her fractured mental state brilliantly!!
And about Bram, I can’t overstate how much of my attachment to this series comes from Troy Duran's narration!!!!!!!!
In fact, he is the reason I gave 24690 a shot. I had never read or listened to anything by A.A. Dark before, but when I saw he was the male narrator on this one, I knew I had to try it. He never disappoints!!! His performances give the male leads exactly the kind of energy I crave in dark romance: intense, dominant, commanding, magnetic and unapologetically masculine, but also perfectly controlled and classy!!!
Overall, Black Out delivered an emotionally brutal, unforgettable ride. The finale lacked the explosive destruction I imagined but the journey and characters made up for it. This series broke me, thrilled me, and I loved every second of it!!!! I’ll miss these characters terribly but their story will stay with me forever!
As crazy as it sounds, these books have entered my list of comfort reads, and I’m sure I’ll re-listen in the future when I can’t find anything new to listen to. I know hoping A.A. Dark turns all of the Garden of the Gods into audiobooks is probably too much to ask 😅 but I’d love at least an audio version of Red Island!
I had to process this one before writing
