Mixed feelings but good

At the start the skill tree was fine 3 or 4 skills to pick from
In the middle and near the end almost 10 skills
To pick from
I felt bad for the reader a few times
He had to read them back to back three times in a row so I just zone out during those part and they are long mins
I’m going to try book 2 and if the long skills options are read back to back I’m just going to stop and return it

Super good

This book was super awesome and I love the new world this author creates and I’ll be immediately going to see if there’s a second one yet and buying if there is.

I don’t know

So I tried multiple things to fix how this story plays. I adjusted the speed multiple times to try and smooth it out. I don’t think the story is bad. I think the narrator is a robotic with sentence structure and it hurts the story very badly in my opinion honestly it makes me want to stop listening to it. It’s not 100% of the time either and it’s bothersome to say the least. To a degree its like it was translated from another language. With all the negatives in place I just can’t recommend it to anyone I know personally.

Levi needs to fix mic

good book but narrator needs to fix his mic. you can hear white noise. every time he speaks.

Great start to the series

This book is very well written. Getting to the character creation doesn’t take half the book as it does it some other stories and once the MC enters the WoM the story starts sprinting and doesn’t stop. There is a large focus on magic and how it works in the game which I really enjoyed but it is interwoven within the action and plot so that it doesn’t feel like an info dump as you learn along side the MC.

I really want to continue

I really want to continue this series. the story is great. It's not the best series I've listened to, but I love the plot and characters. The only problem I have is with the narration. The narrator is very robotic with every character. If a character is excited or mad the voices get louder and if down trodden they get quiet, but there is no emotion. 3.5 for me but I'll round up.

Wasn't for me.

First off, this book wasn't bad. It did however read like a translation from another language. Which is weird because I dont believe that was the case. The MCs abilities were potentially overpowered (which I liked). Where it lost me was the MCs interaction with the other players. Maybe it's just my cautious nature but I wouldn't tell perfect strangers all my secrets upon meeting them. That includes all my abilities and how I got them. That was offputting to me. I half expected him to tell them his social security and bank routing information. (Yeah, seriously)

Half way through the book, the author chose to completely do away with game aspects. Which was disappointing. I actually skipped forward some chapters looking for some notifications.

Again, the book isn't bad. Just didn't meet my personal taste.

An immersive story.

This is one of those stories that when you read it, it makes you want to go on an adventure. When I would get done listening, I found myself day-dreaming about what I would do if I was the character. Great read. Can't wait for the next.

Overshare much?

This guy just goes around strangers who he is ,what his abilities and about meeting a god. Worse the other make no big deal of it.

It's like he went up to strangers and said hey I'm rich, then a day later, hey I got a million dollars on me.


Then he decides to go "realism" to switch from game interface to a natural learning one. Which really makes his much weaker with buying talents and everything else, there really seems no reason to switch.

It's like he switched just not to have a HUD to make the world more real but what makes a world not real with a HUD. Honestly it seemed a stupid switch.

Amazin 😆

Book was all around good. for a good minute I was worried because this felt like a copy of the completionist chronicles, but it became its own as the story progressed. lookingnforward to the next one when it comes out on audible.


minor gripes

So the book had a couple points that were annoying. the narrator when talking about something will refer to it in every sentence, there was also some confusion in that at one point in the book when mentioning the age of a ship the characters give three separate numbers for something that was already established to be about 500 years old.
