All my homies hate the soul point menu

It's a solid litrpg. My only gripe is that the soul point menu is stupidly long. Literally 5+ minutes of repeated text each time they bring it up.

to much time reading stats

the books in this series are great. I enjoy listening to them alot. the part that really irritates me is how much time is spent reading the stats and stuff. I'm 10 chapters in and I've already had to skip past what feels like atleast 30 minutes of just reading the Stat menu, soul menu. and ship menu. it repeats the same thing everytime they are read and they are read in pretty much every chapter. other than that the book is great. keeps me interested in the story and wanting more

Doubt the author will see this... please no more

Good story, it isn't enough to get me to stop me from listening to this book, and planning to get the next one but every chapter having about 5-8 minutes of the same stat/skill menu you've had etched into your brain from book one wasn't enough. Stats are good, but you can have too much of a good thing... this Author wanted even more than that.

Painfully repetitive stat/abilities, no contractions

I've enjoyed the story a loy, but I finally couldn't take it in this series. About halfway through this book I've given up and won't be finishing it.

5 minutes of the same stat/abilities table being repeated over and over kills the cadence and makes me tune it out entirely. It's annoying that the entire table is read once for the main character to take a look at it so often, rather than just incremental abilities or changed ones. But the absurd part that I really can't stand is when the list is repeated a second time IMMEDIATELY AFTER the first time: (paraphrased) "after selecting the abilities to upgrade, he looked over the table again... [a few minutes of the exact same table repeated in it's entirety, just after the table was just gone through, as well as which abilities were upgraded described]".

As other reviewers pointed out, "your are", "that is", etc are very awkward language to always read. I find litRPGs in general have a bit stilted dialogue, which I find myself able to overlook, but this makes all the friendly banter and conversation feel formal and just too off.

LitRPG and the land of missing contractions

This is some basic good ol’ litRPG that is my comfort read. The only thing missing is any contractions.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “contractions? Who cares about contractions when reading? It should make the read even easier and so on ….”

Well let me say that when I noticed this during the first book I would almost agree. I would be like “ya whatever I can deal”

But then you realize how jarring living life in English is without contractions. When saying ‘you are’ once in a while is fine, but never using “you’re” even during dialogue, makes for a surprisingly jarring experience. I didn’t even know how much I used and appreciated contractions until this book and the complete lack of any contractions

Is read that back by expanding any and all contractions expect for the quotes and you begin to discover the issue

Other than that it’s pretty much comfortable

All the bad stuff that book one didnt have

So, book one was great except the soul menu of course.

Book 2 however does the common horrible tropes, it introduces romance. Takes away from the story by shoving in budding love and the fact shes mortal and will age and hes immortal. So if you wanted a fun book series focus on story and not having sex, skip this one.

Next if you enjoyed the whole game world fun quests, adventure and no pressure so they could relax and have fun, skip this series. This book introduces the big bad, the thing they got to fight that puts all the pressure on and sucks the fun light hearted nature of just enjoying advenadventures. No longer a choice now a job.

Finally due to the whole romance the character seems to far less care about developing magic. If you loved that part there is far less. Like he was in MAJOR trading ports and didnt look for spell books, training, enchanting training, jewel craft training , upgrade material for his AI, He just follows the girl around and forgets all his goals and does what she wants. To go to her kingdom and become a privateer for her daddy issues.

I mean he had a staff and TWO bracelets with stored spells in them but he never seems to use them. Remember how he claimed his shadow clone was going to be his most used spells? Shouldn't he have that below decks constantly studying but we dont really ever see it.

So yea, normal ok fantasy romance book. Horrible book if Litrpg game lit adventure book. As the series tries to do away with the game world and make it a real fantasy world, where adventure is replaced with boy does what girl says to make girl happy.

Very Good, but....

The story is good and the narration is well done, but it goes over the characters stats too repetitively. I find myself zoning out at these times and having to rewind because I've missed a section of the story afterwards.

No real goal or meaning to story

No clear objective and seems like the main focus is the battles they have but even those aren’t very immersive. Powers seems dull and nonprogressive. Repeats the same information A LOT.
