Do you or someone you care about experience episodes of extreme and unpredictable anger? The first thing you need to know is that you are not alone. Researchers estimate that some seven percent of Americans may at some time experience a condition called intermittent explosive disorder (IED), which is characterized by reoccurring periods of extraordinary anger, and millions more have less frequent yet equally damaging experiences with rage. The second thing you need to know is that there is help.

Anger is, without a doubt, one of the most difficult emotions to talk about. In many of our cultures, anger is viewed with fear and suspicion due to the ways in which it manifests. And even in our own personal lives, angry reactions and ineffective ways of dealing with conflicts usually result in discord and resentment. It is, therefore, very essential that we gain a clear understanding of anger and the influence it has on our lives.

There are a lot of psychological problems people face these days. The one we are going to break-down in this book is anger, specifically negative anger - a negative emotion which can destroy long-lasted relationships, carrier, and life. Negativity is a normal part of life. Nobody can be positive all that time because life isn’t always going to be perfect. That said, sometimes negativity infiltrates our minds and bodies and never leaves. A good day can be ruined by your mind dwelling on something stupid that happened years ago. You sit for hours ruminating over it, and before you realize it, you have wasted a great day. We’ve all had experiences like that, and they suck.

When you are criticized or rejected, do you have a tendency to lash out or withdraw entirely? Both types of kneejerk reactions can have lasting and unintended consequences, affecting our friendships, careers, families, and romantic relationships. The truth is, overreacting hurts us as much as it hurts the people around us. You may see overreacting as an unchangeable part of your personality, but in reality, this tendency, like any other, can be unlearned.

Stress levels are at an all-time high—so much so that a recently convened panel of medical experts in the US has recommended that all adults under the age of 65 be screened for anxiety. In How to Release Anxiety, Gabby Bernstein offers simple, actionable steps for feeling better, living with more ease, and showing up for those around us. Gabby’s unusual advice: Rather than manage your anxiety, what if you befriended it? Gabby posits that what we befriend, we can ultimately be at ease with. So she invites us to get curious.

Keeping a clear head and thinking straight during intense emotional moments is not something many people can do. It's easy to identify rage in people who lose their temper at traffic jams, unruly children, unresponsive coworkers, and unrealistic bosses. But we may not recognize more subtle manifestations of anger, such as being uncomfortable with loose ends, acting impatiently, or being overly critical. That is anger, too. And, as is so often the case, angry folks don't seem to realize that the behavior causing them problems at home or at work actually stems from unrecognized and unresolved pain and emotional injuries from the past.

Well written
It views anger from many different ways and helps us to understand that this emotion given to us by God is normal; it is our behavior that could cause this to sin. Overall, an excellent book.

This audio book is really awesome!
I’ve been dealing with anger all of my life. I’ve had a hard time finding a book that helps sort through the tangled mess that anger creates. This book does just that. I like that it explains anger in both physiological and psychological terms. Anger is a normal and natural emotion. It’s how you react to it that makes all the difference.

everyone should listen to this audiobook.
The book is based on Zen principles, but it is not religious in any way, nor do you have to be a Buddhist to benefit from it. In this age where everyone seems to be angry and expressing it non-stop, these are important lessons. The writing style is breezy, easy to read and understand even though the topic is deeply spiritual.

Examples of how to help yourself and your anger management
This was a great book. I have struggled with anger management my entire life and I have never sought for help. This was my first attempt at self help in regards to emotional regulation. What I can say is within the timeframe of reading this book and applying it’s methods, has changed my life and lead to a mental shift for the greater good. I am a results driven kind of person, and the results from years of anger and frustration were beaten easily within 3 weeks of practiced emotional control. 3 weeks of emotional regulation > years of anger and frustration. Try it out you have nothing to lose. It works!

It is very interesting
I strongly recommend this book. I've dealt with anger issues my entire life - I grew up around anger and never learned how to deal with it. That decision changed my life for the better. I slowly listen the book over and over. It's beautifully described in an easy-to-understand way, yet very profound. I've since gone on to read many more books about anger and enlightenment
