Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Who knew that the vengeful Todd would escape, then conjure a computer game packed with wolves, wenches, wastelands, and assorted harrowing hazards - and trap his hapless former friends inside it? Stripped of their magic powers, the would-be wizards must brave terrifying dangers, technical glitches, and one another's company if they want to see Medieval England - and their favorite sci-fi movies on VHS - ever again. Can our heroes survive this magical mystery torture? Or will it only lead them and their pointy hats into more peril?

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. After the three books the characters are so well developed and likable (and unlikable) that the ending is all the harder to see instead I'm looking forward to further adventures with the Wizards and Sorceresses.

Such a fun story

Great casual listen, with the same entertaining characters as the previous books in series.
Great narration, but story gets a little repetitive, not as much new material as expected.

Fun Jaunt, but gets a little repetitive

Scott Meyer does an excellent job moving the story forward in this installment. I found the second book less interesting than the first, but he brought me fully back into this third story. I love the characters and the light- hearted nature of the storytelling, especially with so many other authors going super dark in recent years. I could listen to Luke Daniels narration of Philip and Tyler all day.

A fun, modern day adventure continues

Another good chapter in the saga of the wizards who travelled from our own times to Olde England. This story follows the theme of a quest driven by an old enemy of the wizards, and does a fun job developing some of the characters that weren't developed as fully in the earlier stories. It's a romp, not high literature, but a very fun listen with a satisfying ending. Or is it a segue to another installment...

More wizardry fun

I really liked the first book in the series as it was a fresh and original idea, but I've liked each of the subsequent novels less and less.
